Jesus Christ believed it enough to allow Himself to be tortured to death on a cross.
He had some other remarkable credentials - like over 300 prophecies, some thousands of years old which He fulfilled (http://www.jesus-is-lord.com/messiah.htm)
Besides miracles performed like opening blind eyes and deaf ears, healing lepers, casting out demons, commanding the elements, and teaching truths unknown since the beginning of the world.
Oh, and did I mention He rose from the dead?

Romans 6:23 - For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. You know what the best part is. God has already died once to sin on the cross for you and me (and all those idiots who didn't take your question very seriously and profess not to need Jesus) So, you are born into sin and into sin you will remain until you accept Jesus Christ into your heart as Lord and Savior by acknowledging that you are a sinner and repenting of that sin. Oh, by the way, when you do that, you are saved and will reign with Christ in heaven for all eternity. And, if you haven't already, try reading God's Holy Word - the Bible. It has the absolute best answer to all your questions!!!

Yes it is true that we need to be saved and the why comes from the old testament and entails the entire bible. We have all been born with original sin, and then we are all imperfect and incapable of living a sin free life. Thereby we need a savior which is where Jesus comes in. If you think that mankind can save itself then look around you, listen to the news, look at the corruption, the murder, the lies, the lust, the sex, the lack of morals. yes, we need to be saved.

We may need to be saved from ourselves, (sins). But God is quite capable of forgiving us without all the drama of the way we murdered Jesus. Anytime we do anything other than love unconditionally, we are wide open to sin. Back when Jesus was around though, sacrifice was common and part of the law. So, if God wanted to get our attention, he needed to allow us to sacrifice Jesus. God did not sacrifice Jesus, human beings did. One of the last statements made by Jesus was, "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do." We were "saved" way back then. It's already been done. No I don't think we need to be saved again. The one time covered it all.
Blessed Be

I think everyone is accountable for their own actions. Jesus did a lot of great things and said a lot of intelligent things and yes we can learn from the stories of Jesus. But when it all comes down to it, we are all just responsible for ourselves. I think people throw the word sin around so much that it has lost its meaning. Think about what the word sin really means, and then reflect on your actions, how many of them were real sins, and how many were sins that people just say are, but really are not.

It's a basic tenet of christianity. Why do christians believe in it? Because it's clear from scripture, and scripture is God's word.
"Saved from our sins" means we are allowed into heaven. Not saved, means you may not enter into heaven. It's really very simple.
There is only heaven, and hell, and creation. That's it. Creation is not forever, however, and on Judgement Day, this creation will be dissolved forever. But heaven and hell are eternal, and that's all. If you don't like these rules, then why do you stay here? Why do you stay here under God's roof? Why don't you leave and go somewhere else, and make up your own rules. Oh, I forgot, YOU ARE INCAPABLE! hahahaha Looks like you're stuck here with a decision to make, then.

Yes I believe it, and its not a "popular christian belief" it is the basic foundation for the Christian faith. Adam and Eve, disobeyed, from what God commanded them to do. Man and God was separated from fellowship. The blood of animals could not clean the sin from man kind, only a "perfect " sacrifice could bridge that gap. Christ Came in the from of man, lived, taught, loved, and died, but then he rose and ascended to heaven The gap was bridge. By accepting Gods gift the fellowship could be restored, and made whole. It is up to each of us to accept or deny that gift. That is up to you.

Why in the world would Jesus leave his home in Heaven, to come to earth as a man to save us from our sins if it wasn't true. I mean think about it. He could have had 10,000 angels come down and free Him, but He chose to stay on the cross so that we may be free to spend eternity with Him. Love nailed Him to that cross, and I for one thank Him for that.

It is sinning, or disobeying God, that causes us to HAVE TO DIE.
And who in their right mind wants to die?
when god created Adam and Eve, death was not part of the plan.
It only occurred AFTER they disobeyed.
(Genesis 2:16-17) And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. 17Â But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”
So if they had been obedient, they would NOT have [ eventually] died.
And neither would we. Because we have INHERITED death.
Then God sent his son, Jesus, to BUY BACK for us the right to again live without death. Death is not natural, The bible regards it as an enemy.
(1 Corinthians 15:26) As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing.
(Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
there is coming a time when no one will die.
So are the religions right who teach that everyone goes to heaven?
no. They are wrong.
If that were so, why would god bother to promise an end to death, which only applies to living flesh.
It is because His plan is for us to live, in the flesh, ON THE EARTH...WITHOUT THE PROBLEM OF DEATH.
(Psalm 37:9) For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.
(Psalm 37:11) But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.
(Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.
(Psalm 37:34) Hope in Jehovah and keep his way, And he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see [it].

It is written, "all have sinned and come short to the glory of God" therefore all except Jesus who is with out sin, need to come to him and ask him into their hearts, and recieive him as Lord and Saviour, to be washed in the Blood, his blood then makes us whiter then snow.
