Only if the princess submit to Islam. Islam does allow muslim men to marry women from ahlul kitab ( christian and jews who still hold their original book, i.e. taurat and injil). Those books should lead them to Islam. Sadly, nowadays we can hardly found those books in original form. Too many efforts made to erase 'Muhammad pbuh' and Islam from those books. Therefore, muslims prefer to ask them to convert first before getting married to ensure that their soulmate has same religion.

And, there are many similarities between the two religions, and eventually one would probably convert.

I seriously doubt it.
Come to think of it Israelites and Arabians have never gotten along well.
Herod once thought to marry his son, Herod Antipas to the daughter of Aretas, the Arabian king...there was nearly a war over it.
Best if the sons of Ishmael and the daughters of Israel do not marry...
