My bro has a 4 yr old unneutered pure rottweiler which is very loving, soft and gentle, good with kids and and not wary of strangers.
He is also super dog friendly(even with stranger dogs) despite the fact that he was not extensively socialized. He grew up with 3 other adult dogs (1 F and 2 M). But he moved from my parents’ place with my bro when he was 1 and rarely meet other dogs. He is always so happy to see his old friends although they are nasty to him. The female snapped at him so many times, he was threatened by some stray dogs too, but not even once he fight back. This poor thing just ran away. No one in the family ever sees him growl.

The rotty is not obedient trained. He knows some basic commands such as Sit, Down, Stay....and he consistently follows commands given by anyone in the family (including family member whom he rarely sees)

Is he born tamed? Is it likely that he will turn dominant/aggressive (common rotty traits) only at later dates?

I own a chow mix myself (another aggressive breed). I socialise him extensively. He is very human friendly. He is good with dogs smaller than him (afraid of cats though hahaha) but will initiate fights aggressively with big dogs. I think it is just something in a chow chow’s blood.

So I am not sure why my bro's rotty is so tamed.

Yes I had a rotti named TITAN, he passed away last Nov. he was my best freind and companion, he was never trained , but was very loving, relaxed, obedient, pactient with kids, love all other animals. never even had to tie him up. rotti's are NOT known for this type of behavior, they come 1 in a million, you and I have been so lucky to have rotti's like this,, most of them they have gotten a bad rep. my son was bitten in the face by a rotti, 4 stiches, ( they are still my fav. dogs) . i believe it's back yard breeders, selling to bad owners., please enjoy him, because you will NEVER find another one like him,,, just like my Titan man,(AKA THE BIG FLUFFY)

You'd have to train him NOT to be tame. Rotty's are loving, sweet, gentle dogs by nature -- as are MOST dogs. It usually takes some sort of abuse or neglect to bring out the aggressiveness in a dog. SOME breeds might tend to be more difficult than others, but they aren't really AGGRESSIVE.

No canines is born with a docked tail, as docking is a surgery. some canines could be born with a organic bobtail. Rottweilers although are born with an entire tail (except they have a congenital affliction ensuing in a bob tail) and are docked at 2-3 days previous

Rotties are not born untame. They are actually bred for herding and protecting animals on farms. Rotties only have this mean sterotype becuase of tv.

yes he's tame at birth.but as he gets older he'll start to change. I had a rott for about 12yrs and she was so good like your dog. but as she got older she didn't like kids.she'll just growl to let them know to move but willl never bite anyone though. I guess its because she was the baby for along time until we started having kids.

ok. so this is how i see it...when, a dog is born of course it's gonna be wild acting...but, you have the chance while it's young to tame it and teach it the way it should behave in certain surroundings! i use to have a rott, and his name was DAMIEN (rosemary's baby...lol) and, he was the sweetest dog you'd ever meet in your whole freakin' life, cuz we taught him when to and how to react and behave in certain surroundings. i really don't think he would, but you gotta remember that he's also an animal.

animals are just like people\
all ahve their own personalities.
and how your treat your children has much to do with it
even if they had some bad genes..

but if there is aggression in the line it could come out later. or under stress.
so always consider that.

no dog is born being aggressive. the agression comes from people and stupidity. some puppies may be more laid back than others but they arent born aggressive.
