It's "as in the days of Noah" when the earth is violent and evil and Jesus returns to "catch us away" for a period of time; seven earth years to go into the heavenly abode where we will be having the marriage supper of the lamb and the earth is then FREE of all God's saints whom they so furiously HATE and will be free from our Jesus message, free from our love and prayers and free from anything Christian. A real 'athiest' hay-day, along with the anti-christ who will force you to obey him especially after the 1st 3 and 1/2 years of his 7 year reign. Some people during that time will understand that all Christians have believed and what the Bible has taught is true and will give their heart to God and then they will have to die for their faith; be martyred with a special reward.
Just like Noah was lifted up in an ark of safety, Christians will be lifted up and kept out of harms way until the 7 years are over and we will return WITH Jesus to the earth and end the reign of death and destruction and evil and then live on the earth for 1,000 years where Jesus sets up his headquarters on earth in Jerusalem and we will live in peace and prosperity and love on the New Earth. What do you think the battle for the land of Israel and Jerusalem is about anyway? The devil; satan has and always will be a liar and try and take over the Jewish land of Israel and Jerusalem. It belongs to God and will always and He already gave it to the Jewish people and our Lord Jesus Christ IS one; the chief among us all! Come join us.

It's when all Christians are suddenly taken into heaven, which leads into the tribulation on earth. Some people may try to tell you the rapture isn't in the Bible, but it is supported by many verses. Just two examples:

"The dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1 Thes. 4:17

Matthew 24:36-44
36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
37 "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Noah was saved before the judgment (flood), which indicates believers will be saved before the tribulation.

The rapture is supposed to be, I believe, around the time when all of Israel's surrounding enemies go to attack and try to destroy it: something that looks like will take place in the near future. I think this is called the battle of Gog and Magog.

These are the two verses in the Bible that speak of the Rapture.

"Listen, I am telling you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of a eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed." 1Corinthians 15:51-52

"For we say to you by a revelation from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord's coming will certainly have no advantage over those who have fallen asleep. For the lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangels voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will always be with the Lord." 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.

Some Christians disagree on what happens next, but most believe the Rapture precedes a 7 year tribulation period spoken of in the book of Revelation. Then Christ, along with all who have been raptured will return to Earth.

The "rapture" is a concept that some Christians believe. When the "end times" come God will take all Christians up to heaven. They will just vanish. While others live on earth for 7 more yrs. with the anit-christ.

Corinthians 5:51 " Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."John 14:2 "In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The Rapture is when bridgroom (Jesus) comes for His bride (the church). But before the Rapture things are suppose to get worst in the world. After Jesus takes His people, the people who are left are going to go through a period called tribulations where the world would just be in utter chaos. John 3:16 saz "God so loved the world that He gave His own begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." So this is one of the reason why God allowed Jesus to die on the Cross. For our sins and shame so that we don't have to be left behind when He comes to take His people, we can go with Him so we don't have to endure the great suffering that will fall on this world.

It's from the greek word harpazo meaning being taken up suddenly. It's when Jesus comes for the church and then the great tribulation in the book of revelation (ch 6-18) takes place on earth. After that period of judgment then Jesus comes back and the people with Him where He'll judge the remaining (a lot people during that time will be killed by war and disease, etc) people on earth called the great white throne judgment.

It is the next event on the prophetic calander. Nothing needs to take place prophetically before it can happen.

Inbetween the time of His coming back down after the tribulation and the g w throne judgment is a thousand yr period called the millenuim where He rules on earth

Obviously the people answering this question are not where they need to be spiritually. The Rapture of God's church (which incidentally is not a building but made up of those people who believe Jesus to be God's son, sent to die in our place for our sins, buried and raised on the third day) is not a joke. God's Word promises He will come back one day and rapture his Church to be with Him in heaven. Those of us who are born again Christians will be taken to Heaven in the blink of an eye. How awesomely cool is that!! Anyway, the best place to go for an answer to this question is God's Holy Word - the Bible (try the chapter entitled Revelations). It truly is revealing!!

The rapture is the event plainly described chiefly in these two portions of Scripture:

"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep (died) in him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words."
I Thessalonians 4:13-18

"I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?" '
I Corinthians 15:50-55

Briefly, before the close of this present Age, God has promised to gather all True believers to Himself, both those alive at that time and those who have died. They will be given glorified resurrection bodies and when Christ returns to set up His earthly Kingdom, they will rule and reign with Him upon the earth for 1000 years (the Millennium).
The Rapture refers to the tranformation that will occur in those still alive - they will be instantly changed, and caught up into the air to be with the Lord; and the bodies of the saints who have died will be resurrected and transformed into glorified bodies like the resurrection body of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the plain teaching of Jesus and His Apostles.
