We cannot hide anything from God. He not only knows all of our actions, He also knows our thoughts, our hearts, and even our motives. Noone can hide anything from God as He sees it all. When we see we are sinning, and we confess them to God, repent and say we are sorry and that we wont do it again, (true meaning of repentance, not just saying sorry over and over and over!!!!!!) , then God will forgive. He will bless us, prosper us in all things. He shows us His grace and HIs mercy, and we will learn to LIVE JUST LIKE JESUS LIVED< which is part of our HIGH CALLING To OBEY as JESUS OBEYED THE FATHER amen.
But, those who will not confess their sins will not propser of the Lord in any way. Sin leads to more sin. DIsobedience leads to curse and one will just get worse and worse, UNTIL the day comes they will truly repent of their sins and RUN TO JESUS, surrender their will to His will and begin to live as He lived. WE are to think like Jesus, walk like Jesus, talk like Jesus, and just live the way HE lived, doing all HE did. YEs HE gives us the power to do just that, by the indwelling of the Holy SPirit that we received at the cross, thru Jesus shed blood. Hallelujah.
The longer one runs in sin, the harder it is to see truth, as the devil will put on blinders that lead to confusion and literally spiritual blidnness.
But when we confess our sins, the blinders are removed, and all we can hear right then is GOD, unless we go into sin again.
Only way to stay truly Gods is to do things His way, knowing He knows best, and remaining in enough love for Him to truly obey Him, just as He obeyed the Father.
Oh, yes we have the power to overcome sin. Just tell God you want that and He will give it to you. Keep praying, stay in the Word of God, Follow Jesus and be totally blessed.
Passion for Jesus?? YEP> amen

covering your sins is not asking for forgiveness it is using a second sin to cover the first - thats just another sin - confess them and turn from them is now doing the right thing and will then get God's mercy

It is talking about the Old Testament way of when you confessed your sins to the High priest to have them forgiven. However, it also is a reference(although not directly) to Being bold enough to become Born Again and not hide your sins because you know Jesus is your Savior. So, in a way, it is a hint of what the New Testament will bring. Thanks for asking and have a great day!

Like bad habits in life it does not do any good to just attempt to hide them from others but admit your faults and move forward in life by finding a way to drop/let go of them, No secret is ever kept in the dark without being found out.

If you admit your sins to God, and stop doing them, you will have mercy(forgiveness)
This is all dependant on discovering the things that we might do that would be displeasing to God. The idea is that the love of God begins with fear. No. Not the morbid dread of punishment, but the fear of damaging a friendship. God has asked us to be his freind. And we, should respond by learning what makes him happy. You see, when we do what is right, we will also be happy.

read the proverb again and compare with Psalm 32, the Bible should be its own interpreter:
"I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah." - Psalm 32:5-7.

If we confess our sins to God (and not lie about them) then he will have mercy upon us and forgive them.
