Some of the stuff I just can't believe is real. Is it okay as a Christian to believe in God and Jesus, but also believe that over time, man (being imperfect), hasn't recorded events 100% the way they actually happened?

First off, there are more people that believe in God but do not believe in the Bible than believe in both. Christianity forms a (large) minority in the world.

Secondly, the Bible was written (and more importantly editted) by MAN). Many of the gospels were simply discarded by the early Catholic church around 300AD.

It may be inspired by God ... but the typos, mistranslations and outright blarney are clearly and totally of mortal stuff.

You are a human being. Use your mind and think for yourself.

If you believe in Jesus Christ, I suggest you carefully read through the four Gospels, paying careful attention to His attitude towards the Scriptures. I think you will find plainly that He believed in Adam and Eve (Matthew 19:1-9); Noah and the Flood (Matthew 24:37-39), and Jonah being swallowed by a great fish (Matthew 12:39-41)

Real spirituality is humbling yourself before the Word of God, and recognizing that it is the Teacher and you are the pupil.

" This is what the LORD says:
"Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool.
Where is the house you will build for me?
Where will my resting place be?
Has not my hand made all these things,
and so they came into being?"
declares the LORD.
"This is the one I esteem:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit,
and trembles at my word."

Psalm 66:1-2

You may not always understand, but you must believe. It is the pleasure of God to give understanding to those who believe.

I completely agree with you. Even today, when people witness an event, all will have a very different viewpoint or story to tell about what actually happened. I do believe in God and in Jesus, but some of the stories in the bible??????? My son (who is strong in his church and in his beliefs) go round and round about the bible. The words that Jesus spoke, I tend to have confidence in because, they actually speak to me, personally. But for the rest of what I read, I tell my son that I feel it is mostly like a history book, a story of events. I know that is reason for an argument among people, but that is my opinion. Yes, I feel there are parts that are wonderful and true, but other parts that are too fabulous to be completely believable. Ever heard of a "Doubting Thomas?" God created many of those.

Well, granted it is hard to believe some Biblical stories, but God has remained true and the words in the Scripture brings life. So, we have faith to see us through our doubt. I think doubting the scripture opens a can of worms that will eat at your soul till you crumble. Once you open up doubt you have to wonder which stories if any are accurate?

If you could not follow that ramble. I believe you must believe the Bible accurate or else your faith is less than a mustard seed.

Noting that it was translated so many times you cant count, and that the names were changed (I'm pretty sure back then, names like Mary, Joseph, Peter, and Paul werent so common) it is hard to believe some of the events that occurred. Also, I find it odd that we all think of a white Jesus when in fact, he was Middle Eastern..

I believe I'm a good Christian. But being Confirmed as a Catholic, I will probably rot in hell for stating what I said above, and being friends with gays.

I feel the same way. Not just that people are imperfect in recording and re-recording God's word, but that the very concept exists at all. I believe in a God, but that a blood sacrafice was required for me to be forgiven is a little out there.

Yes, it's called being normal.
Keep believing in GOD and Jesus, and you'll be fine. Verify many times the actions and words of humans, before trusting them.
Some humans just ignore, but quietly! or you'll be found out as a free thinker, which will scare these people into branding you a trouble maker, and cursing you.
Know your enemy, and know your friends.

What do you find there that's so hard to believe? God is not bound by the rules of science. He is a spirit, not a human. You just cannot go second guessing the Bible. With God all things are possible. After all, He made all of creation in six days.

It depends. If you dont belive that God performs miracles ( interveins in the world ) or that God is all powerful, all knowing, and always present, then there isnt much point in trying to be a Christian or following a deity at all.

The Bible is hard to read, and hard to understand at times. (especially the OT ) and hard to reconcile with modern culture. but through study, prayer & talking to those who are further along in the faith than you, things in the bible will mesh together well ( the AUTHOR knows what he's doing) . i'd encourage you to talk to your pastor & read josh mcdowells book more than a carpenter, as well as phillip yancey's books. they helped me to no end . BUT above all, read the BIBLE. Struggling with the tough questions it raises will strengthen your mind, your will and your resolve.
