Why do my parents want me to be something i am not just to satisfy their need for regularity? Why do they expect me to behave as they think i should so i can be happy. Sometimes parents do what they feel is the right thing for you even if it isn’t. One thing you have to understand is they have seen a lot in the world and they take what they have learned (right or wrong) and try to guide you in a direction to avoid things they feel will harm you. Some parents also don’t really open their eyes or minds to how life changes and may not understand what it is you are going through. My dad forced me to go into a direction I didn’t care much for but when I got older I went in the direction I wanted and while he said it was a mistake and I was throwing my life away I not only proved him wrong but he later got on the same page as me years later. Your parents my take a long time to see you the way you want to be seen but don’t give up on them, just keep working with them but in a calm manner. Yelling and screaming just escalates things and nothing gets resolved. Hang in there, be your own person and remember it may take time for others to see you the way they should. : )

If you are over 18, then get a job, move out and start paying your own bills. Then no one but your boss can tell you what to do.

If you are under 18, you are simply repeating the same thing that teenagers (your parents included) have screamed at their parents and the world since time eternal. In other words, you are not special, you just think you are.

Write poetry, its a great way to get it all out on paper. And in 35 years you can get it out and wonder why you were as shallow as you are.

Oh and your folks, they understand that you are a real person. So act like one.

Your parents are not trying to ruin your life. Most kids feel that way. Your parents are trying to give you the benefit of their experience. Do you think they were never a kid with feelings like you? Of course they were! You will, at some point, be out on your own and you'll think back to things they told you and tried to make you understand and you'll be better for it. Instead of making life difficult for yourself, try to be more respectful and thankful that you have parents who care. You are with your parents a short time compared to the rest of your life. So try to learn from them and think about what they have to say. They say it out of love, even when you think they are being mean.

Because it is inconvenient for them.

Many parents feel they have missed something and they don't want their children to ever feel that way. Personally I think a little vicarious living is thrown in for good measure.

BTW, I am an old man with children and grandchildren, not a 16 year old kid that knows everything. Heck I am not a 60 year old man that knows everything. Just an old man with a lot of mile on him. Just try not to be that kid. Life without your parents will come soon enough, learn from them, they are a storehouse of knowledge if you just watch and listen.

Keep in mind that you will not be under their roof forever. Once you are, you can define yourself and conduct your life as you see fit
