It's just a normal kitten phase they all go through. They race around like maniacs and attack everything in sight. It starts when they are about 10 weeks old and lasts a couple of months. It's instinct forcing therm to learn to hunt, as if they were still living in the wild and having to kill theirt food. They don't mean to be bad...they can't help it.
The fact that she is doing the "killer kitten" business in front of you means that she trusts you. From being a wild thing on July 2 when you found her to acting like a normal kitten two weeks later -- good work on your part.
I think she's going to be a very good pet and you are a very good owner who is doing all the right things.

This is life with kittens!
She's perfectly normal---she will settle completely down when she grows up. It's hard with kittens at home, because you can have accidents, they move so fast. Sometimes they run from room to room, and might get hurt. They are just full of energy.
They just love to run at this age. Look around for open things (drawers, closets, toilets, etc.) and keep an eye on the kitten as much as you can. Once our new tortoiseshell kitten hopped into the icebox when I had the door open (she just wanted to explore)-----luckily, I heard her meowing in there, or there would have been a tragedy.
They are small, and can get everywhere.Be careful!

I would say your kitten is just fine. I've had 2 kittens and they did the same thing running around. It's almost like something bit them in the butt and they take off. I thought it was cute and completely normal. We were stupid and got another kitten shortly after having the one. The 2 of them were double the trouble. I would come home and find them hanging in house plants. I would slowly let her venture out a little more. And Enjoy her! Oh, and make sure a visit to the vet is in order if you haven't done so yet.

Kittens typically have spurts of energy (usually right after napping or eating). They'll run around, attack things and just play around with everything. This usually only lasts about a half hour or forty five minutes then they usually settle down.
This is likely not a cry for additional space. However, once you feel you can trust her around the house it would be nice to let her explore a bit.

Relax, it sounds like a combination of typical kitten play and wild cat brought in. She will calm down with time and growing up; however, some indoor only cats never loose that "wild cat" time when they just freak out and charge around the room. Just let them work it out. It is still safer by far for the animal to be an indoor cat.
Incidentally, if you have lost her in a fireplace, yes absolutely restrict her roaming until you can kitty proof such places.

Oh... I had a kitten before a few years back. When she was 6 months old, she was doing the same thing and going on the floor and making weird noises. A few months later, she had kittens and my sister's boy cat was the father. Your cat is going through heat. It is the time that your cat is going through "puberty." It wants to have kittens of its own.

I agree with the previous poster. Kittens are just generally hyper little creatures. They get "manic" spurts - and will for years - where they'll just run around every inch of space they're allowed, bouncing off the walls, meowing at nothing, etc. It's just one of the funny little quirks of having a younger cat. Besides, think about it - if you slept all day long, every day, wouldn't you get hyper at some point too? ;) Don't worry about giving her more room than you're ready for - it's good for new cats to learn boundaries. Just be sure to keep breakable things out of her reach!

If she gets into a hiding place and she's not crying because she is stuck don't worry, I would look around a little more for tiny spaces so you can know where she is but other than that don't worry. There's a spot behind my dad's bed that only my cat can get to, it's a smaller space and it makes her feel safe. As for the energy, that's normal.

Kittens will act like this, even when they are older. My cat will be 4 in about 2 weeks and she still has those energy bursts and runs around. Your cat is just very playful.
