A judge can't give you the choice of the Marine Corps or jail time. The Marine Corps doesn't seek out scumbags. These ******* who claim they were forced in by a judge are trying to look like James Dean or some ****. It's the U.S. Marine Corps, in which I proudly served it's not the French Foreign Legion you douche bags!

I was referring to someone in another forum. And the James Dean reference was meant to convey their acting like they're some kind of rebellious bad m.f. that is so out of control that jail can't even hold them.
Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings (NOT). I just know from experience that the individuals who came into boot camp acting like studs either got dropped or cracked and were sent back to momma. And I don't GAF what the Army's policy is ma'am.

Simple all charges dropped and all records destroyed if the person (he or she now days) joins the Corps. That is how it is done. And if the Corps can't straighten their puke a**sed Maggot a**ses out nothing can.
You can bet their D.I.'s put the fear of God in their maggot a*sed boot a**ses.
!2 weeks with my D.I. and Al Capone would have been a choir boy.

Hey there devil, sorry to say that your wrong. I personally was stationed with a few that had that option. The judge gives them the option in hopes that the structure of the Marine Corps itself and boot camp will set them straight. Although not everyone can get that option, it is dependant on the crime and they will be limited on MOS choices, if they even get to choose their MOS. Don't forget that the Marine Corps won't accept all of them either, it's a case by case basis. If it makes you feel better...they get way more s**t throughout training then regular recruits.

Its actually not legal for a judge to order someone to do the time or join the military.

In fact, if the recruiter is aware that this has happened, they are to automatically disqualify the applicant.

4-12b
Applicant who, as a condition for any civil conviction or adverse disposition or any other reason through a civil or criminal court, is ordered or subjected to a sentence that implies or imposes enlistment into the Armed Forces of the United States is not eligible for enlistment unless—
(1) The condition is removed by the same or higher authority imposing the sentence.
(2) The condition is removed by virtue of expired period of sentence.
(3) The condition is over 12 months from imposition and the court, city, county, or State no longer obligates the applicant to this condition.
