my choice to have a faith in a being greater than myself; and that's MY choice!

I am a Christian and try not to force my beliefs onto anyone, unless they try and force theirs onto me. I do not knock an others belief, I just guard my own. As for forcing laws that go against Christianity- Abortion, Gay Marriage- I do not agree with those and will help defeat any and all attempts to block them. God Bless.

There's two answers to your question: a desire to feel superior and just plain ignorance.

The first explanation pretty much speaks for itself but what do I mean by ignorance?

Whatever a person believes, I believe in Creation, others believe in the Theory of Common Descent (which is what people usually mean when they say evolution...not the same thing), is based on faith.

I have faith that God exists even though I've never seen Him. I also have faith in the scientists that tell us that things like quarks and atoms and electrons exist. I've never seen them either. There is enough evidence to compel me to believe in both God and quarks

I have faith that Jesus is the son of God based on evidence both physical and spiritual. Likewise, I have faith that the Sun is approximately 93 million miles from Earth based on evidence that scientists give us. No one has flown to the sun and checked it on the odometer, therefore it's faith in the scientist's method of calculation that compels us to believe this "fact".

I have faith that God created the universe even though I wasn't there to observe it as it happened. Atheists have faith in the scientists that claim we originated in some primordial soup (Theory of Common Descent) but no one was there to witness that event either. Again, in both cases, it's a matter of whether the evidence is enough to compel you to have faith, to believe, in one or the other.

We all believe what we do based on the evidence provided to us and what we feel to be the stronger, more compelling argument. Proof is in the mind of the believer.

Now, if we could just get more people to understand that EVERYONE believes what they do because of faith, they might be a little more tolerant. Since 90% of all science is still theories or experimental and only a small portion of the Bible can be historically proven, I'd say we're all on pretty much even ground when it comes to beliefs.

I respect your (anyone reading this) beliefs, I only ask that mine be respected as well.

I have never posted a question on Yahoo to knock other peoples beliefs.I respect your right to believe in whatever religion you feel you need to lead your life.I have seen that there are so many believers on here, who can't stand the fact that I don't believe and they keep telling me that I am wrong and that the Devil is going to get my soul.I answer your questions to put my point of view,it is not a defense. If I believe there is nothing that means there is nothing to defend. You believe there is something and you have to defend it.

All one has to do is look around to know there is a God. Looking at the heavens and all the beauty, then looking at all the beauty on earth. Looking in the mirror at ourselves and knowing that we are each a miracle of God, We all grew from a tiny seed planted in our Mothers womb and fertilized by our Father. What more proof does a person need?

I don't knock it unless they try to shove it down my throat, it's not my fault that I believe that the only way anyone would actually believe in the invisible friend in the sky is if they were brainwashed into believing the way that they do, and I don't want others to brainwash my kids in believing that way. Keep it out of our schools, and off our streets and in the church where it belongs.

There is ample proof that God exists. There is so much historical evidence that Jesus Christ existed, not biblical, and that He rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds, also historical that when He says, I and the Father are one, if you have seen me, you have seen the Father. I am the way, the truth and the life, and Jesus cannot lie. In scripture, it says, in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was made flesh, (Jesus). In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. With just this, all the historical evidence, God truly is.

I would say it is because everyone has different beliefs and people have a hard time seeing past their own beliefs and sometimes may feel threatend by what others believe.
I don't know for cetain but thats my best personal explaination.

I heartily agree.
I enjoy answering questions from people who sincerely want to know about my faith, or ask why I believe as I do.
I do get irritated, though, with those who are just here to bash and insult anyone who doesn't believe as they do.

Because we're all correct! Our opinions are always right and the other persons are always wrong. Can we all just get along and agree to disagree!

But I'm right...God Lives! lol

Would you find it ridiculous if someone worshipped magical invisible gnomes who hid under their back porch?

What if they wanted these gnomes to pass their morality as law? Keep certain groups from marrying because the gnomes didnt' like it? What if they were tax exempt because they believed in these invisible gnomes?

What if you were shunned for political office if you didn't believe in the gnomes? What if people told you repeatedly you'd burn in a magical evil pit if you didn't believe in these gnomes, despite zero evidence? What if real science were rejected because it might answer the gnomes?
