The dog may be over-excited if there are people who are awake late hours. My husband and I work different hours and there is always someone at home awake, so my Yorkie tries to stay awake as well. I tried many different tactics, but the only thing that worked was putting him in his cage in a room alone at night, turning off the light, and closing the door. He sleeps about 8-10 hours a night now, and seems much better tempered.

I would advise you to take it for long walks or if there's a dog park by your house, take the dog there. I am taking my dogs to the dog park 3 or 4 times a week and when they get home they are so tired you don't even think they exist in that house...until the next day of course. LOL. They have a lot of fun with other dogs and run free for a while so it gets them really tired. Another thing would be to find out with your aunt how the dog was trained to go to sleep.

Your dog just needs to be excercised a lot. A lot of dogs that do not really release their energy are always the ones that bark and bother neighbors or just end up walking around the house. You should atleast walk your dog for about 45 minutes to an hour around your block and make sure they go to the bathroom before they go to sleep.

Does your aunt stay with you too when her dog does?
If the dog is very attached to your aunt, she may be restless when it's time to lay down because she misses her. Do your best to tire her out before bedtime and maybe ask your aunt to bring the dogs ebd or toys from home so she has something that smells like her house.
Good luck

Does your aunt the owner have this problem? It could be separation anxiety, i would put the dog in bed with me and pet or hold it, it may need to feel secure at your house.
Do you have other pets there? the dog could be frightened of the other pet. Like you already have a dog and he has domination over this dog, thats how some dogs are, they have to follow the leader dog. Like the leader of the pack. hope this helps

you could try and take her for a long walk right before its time to go to sleep. if there are people who stay up late in the house put the dog someplace quiet. she may need you to comfort her since she is in a strange place... pet her and talk to her quietly. make sure that whereever you put her to sleep is warm and safe like a pet pen so she cant get loose during the night.
good luck!

One thing you could try that i've seen on some research pages, is take a warm bottle of water and wrap it in a towel, and a little clock that ticks, and put it in its kennel if its in one, this will calm her, as well as some soft music, or a nightlight, she could be experiencing separation anxiety for some reason, or she just doesn't feel secure just do some exersize before bed, and make sure all her needs are met before putting her to bed, hopefully it all works out for you.

Wear her out!! That is the best answer time you need to get them to sleep. Play fetch, chase a Frisbee, go swimming, long walk or run just keep her busy. Hopefully that does the trick other wise the dog is just happy to see you and can't control her excitement

Oh,that actually sounds cute.It is probably restless because it is in a new serounding.Or,maybe he is so excited that he is tired but he still wants to play.I would say that you should tottlay play with him so much tha he is sooo tired.Andtired that he can not play any longer.Or,just relax with him till he falls asleep.

In his bed you should hide a clock that ticks kind of loud and dogs get tired from it. And before you put him to bed you should chill, and the dog will come to you most likely and make him lay down and just pet him in front of the t.v or couch.
