i have fifteen month old twins and they have had small fevers for a couple of days-nothing serious but one of my girls last night had a "fit" at bedtime. she started screaming and writhing around the floor and when i picked her up she was completely stiff which is not too uncommon in most cases for her. she is already rebellious and fights when being put in a seat or something but this was scary. i was going to take her to the hospital but took her for a car ride to calm her down instead.she would not let me touch her head and it lasted about fifteen minutes and then almost suddenly she fell asleep. i thought she was ok but then it happened again today. i am taking her to the doctor but my neighbor just told me it could be seizures so i am scared for her. i was scared holding her and even thought she was possessed(i know it sounds crazy) but i was scared. does anyone have insight? thanks

Babies sometimes develop 'febrile seizures' when temps go up rapidly. They usually occur when child has a temperature of over 102. The child:
loses consciousness
shakes or jerks both sides of head and body
rolls eyes
loses urine
sometimes vomits
cries or moans
Treatment:
place child on soft covering over firm surface - like rug on floor
turn on side, so any saliva or vomit will fall out of mouth, and tongue will not obstruct airway
remove any dangerous objects in area
stay with child until seizure is over
Time the seizure with clock or watch [ no guessing ]
TAKE HER to a HOSPITAL if she has another seizure.
15 minutes is a long time for a seizure - watch her carefully.
Treat any fever over 101 rectal with motrin, and if still very high after 30 minutes, put her in a shallow, lukewarm bath. Keep pouring water over her head [ large surface area, cools off faster ] and body with a cup or a washrag. Do not leave unattended in the tub, take her out if she starts to seize.
Next time your girls become ill or have fevers, keep purse and car keys in handy place, and carry phone with you everywhere.
Most children outgrow these by age 6.
P.S. Both my boys each had one febrile seizure - it is scary, and one did it in the tub.

yeah, as i was reading, i was thinking seizure too.. my daughter had a seizure every time she ran a fever.. they usually last less the 2 mins, then fall fast asleep right after..

Febrile seizures are not uncommon and kids usually outgrow them by 4 or 5.. they are very scary when they happen but benign. You really should take her to the doc and let her pedi know what happened.

My suggestions on abortion could be summed up like this- If I have been to make certain i replaced into pregnant say next week and unable to get an abortion i might shoot my brains out till now i might have a newborn. i'm not mom fabric, i don't want to be a mom, I paintings against starting to be a mom (pills and condoms each time), yet whilst some thing is going incorrect i will't have a newborn; With the way i've got considered human beings attempt and undertake interior the states i think of youngsters submit for adoption oftentimes have a extraordinarily tough existence, and that i don't think of i ought to hold a newborn that got here out of me and supply it away. i will circumvent it in any respect expenses yet whilst needed i might have an abortion in a heartbeat. for people who're against it- Do you have an accompanied newborn? better yet do you have an accompanied AIDs newborn? Who will take them with the mothers can not have abortions? And do you not remember the hell that got here approximately final time abortion replaced right into a criminal offense?

Its not totally uncommon when a baby over the age of one gets wrilled up and whos body becomes somewhat rigid after throwing a temper tantrum. However, it is a possibility that your little one might suffer from mild seizures, and those should not go untreated. And thank heavens you are taking her to the doctor, its probably something small, but needs to be acknowledged.
