I recently decided I want to stop playing the flute and start taking acting lessons. I haven't told my mom yet because I know she'll disagree. I knoe this because I have always changed what I am doing and I can never make up my mind. I also try tons of new activities. I have done jazz dancing, gymnastics, and tennis. I have also played the violin and the piano. I want to stop the flute because it really is no fun and I don't play too well... I don't have a private teacher and I am not the kind of person to sit down and practice all day. I want to start taking lessons because I want to get involved in the school play and prove that I can act. My mom said I have always been a great actor but I am not sure if she will sign me up for lessons.I just started to horseback ride, too, and I think it is the best sport ever! How can I convince my mom to sign me up for lessons? What do you think are my chances she'll say yes?

it sounds like you do not know WHAT you want to do and if i was your mom, i would be a little tired of it, shelling out money and you changing your mind.

If you were my daughter, the first time you didn't see something through would have been the last time I paid for anything. Get a part time job of some sort and pay for your own lessons. Your mom isn't doing you any favors spoiling you.

well. if i had a child like that, i would let them. sure i would get tired, but im letting my child experiance new things. who knows, they might have it as a future career, and i dont want to block the door for that opportunity because i was TIRED. if i were the parent, i see it as my responsibility to make sure my child grows up healthy knowing what they want to do and being able to try new things.
