Use a big bun, one that can actually hold what you're going to try to put on it. Also, your condiments need to go directly on the meat with lettuce or something to separate them from the bun. Then when you finish building your hamburger, flip it over and give it a gentle downward push. If you do these three things your hamburgers will hold together much better.

The bun is the secret. If you're going to use one of those 8-to-a-pack buns that come out of the bread aisle, you'll need to make a thin burger patty, so the stack isn't too much for the bun.

If you (like I do) like a big ol thick meaty burger, you have to think oversized buns. The bakery section at the store will have Keiser rolls and other burger buns like that made for adult sized burgers.

its all in the way you fix the burger, how thick the patty is and how big the bun is!!!
