Why do the West think Arab Lands and the Muslims are anti modern?

Having visited many Arab and Muslim countries I can testify that it is ultra modern and one of the peacful places I have been, love for fellow mankind and general care for one and other.

We in the West paint a bad picture of the Muslims and the Arab world we turn them in to monsters, it is we the real monsters of this world.

I am happy to state the West is slowley adapting to Eastern teaching in its every day lives.

If you dont believe me go and see for yourselves starting with The Kingdom of Morocco, a place of tranquil and spleandour.

Some places are some places are not.

People tend to paint what they dislike in the harshest light.

Morocco is a good example of a culture and society that is Muslim Arabish while still very western. Its Government has a lot to be desired though.

Yemen on the other hand is an example of a Arab nation that is quite backwards in many ways. While the UAE in some ways is more modern than the West.

People think the Arabs are backwards BECAUSE the Arabs are backwards. If they would put half the energy they spend on praying, they would be leaders in the world and not just oil merchants.

Its all the Media...

The Western Media has caused the west to believe in their point of view, and only giving one side of the story blinds the people viewing: that is almost everybody. It has made its "victims" extremely ignorant, and I am truly proud of those who see through its schemes. The Media has forced its viewers to believe that Islam is a violent, bloody, intolerant religion, but in reality this is actually the opposite. If people would stop accepting their television sets as their teachers, more people would know the actual truth about Islam. The Media reports misleading stories, gross exaggerations, inaccurate information, and false statements about Islams and Muslims to undermine the religion, and unfortunately, this propaganda is a success--many many Americans believe everything they hear on the news or read in the newspaper. What they fail to realize is that what they read/hear is only one point of view of a bias Media that has been criticizing Muslims with false information vigorously since 9/11.

Terrorism is CONDEMNED in Islam; it is not allowed, period. Neither is innocent murder, suicide of any kind, forced marriages or forced conversions. These are all misleading fabrications composed by the Media. You can't always believe what you hear.

Terrorists are not true Muslims; they use Islam as a mask to cover up their dirty work, and give Islam a bad name. It is not fair for the majority of Muslims, who oppose terrorism and denounce violence that is occurring. Unfortunately, the Media will never let this be known, making it look like Muslims support these radical actions, when in reality they absolutely do not.

First, of all I have to say THANK YOU. I want to say thank you because I'm glad someone who is not arabic has finally acknowleged that arabian countries are modern. I have visited Dubai and Kuwait and I have to say, they are the most beautiful places I have visited besides India.( India is my homeland so I can't rule it out.) The people there are also very nice to the tourists and not at all terrorist like towards them. My ex is also from Bahrain and my friends have told me its cleaner than America. Of course there are some arab countries who are not modern and still have the old belief system. I just wish people would not judge other countries or people without first getting to know it. Personally, I believe American people should step outside their enclosed box for once and seek out the world. Rather than hating it. :-) again thanks!

Yes, I think us Westerners have a bad picture of Muslims and Arabs and you can thank the media for that. I've learned being on this site and especially from my friend Proud Muslimah that most Muslims are respectful and peaceable and don't support the terrorists or want all of us Westerners dead. Forgive us our misconception but it was all we were told.

S. could withdraw all help from Israel. you prefer to understand why the Mid-East hates united states of america of america? Israel. and you will pay attention approximately one thousand Palestinian deaths, and 12 Jews died. yes, i would go to morocco, dubai or indonesia. i wouldn't go to afghanistan or sudan though, how about you?
