honey I am 5'41/2" and I wear a size 16, sometimes an 18 depending on how its cut. I weigh 190 thereabouts. I have type II diab. Yes, my doctor is on me all the time to get more exercise, lower my chol. and bp and get off all this ddddd medicine. I wish I could. mine is hereditary unfortunately. I'm Scotch-Irish and all the women in my Dad's side of the family turn into vertical shoe boxes after 45! Not a whole lot I can do about it. Constant struggle! I don't like the labels either but if my case isn't enough to shock ya'll into action and moving I don't know what is. It is a biological fact that when you get into your late 40's and 50's your metabolism slows down. Its important that you stay active to control it or wind up with my stuff type of problems. Believe it or not I used to be a speed walker til I turned 40 and from there my body just slowed down on its own. Everybody's different but the shorter you are the more prone it seems to me that people overweight are to having more health problems earlier on.

To be honest, that sounds pretty big. A woman of 5'1 can only weigh up to 135 lbs before she is classified overweight, and think most women who are 135 would wear about around a size 6.

I would not go calling it "too big", it may be the perfect size for the woman you are talking about. But "skinny" people who are 5'1 would probably be closer to a size 3, 5 or 7 if that helps.

If you are a 16, you would have to shop in a store geared towards "larger women." Yes, that is overweight.

She's overweight. Why should it matter? It's all in how you feel when you're with her that matters.
