See if you can join him and his friends when they hang out, so you can get to know each other better. Its more fun in a group anyways. Best of luck!

you're KIDS. that's what you're supposed to do: PLAY. don't try to force him into growing up to fast. let him do his thing and you do your thing. then spend a little time together in between.
