Every cat has it's own personality. I'm not sure what your cat is doing to make you think that it hates you, but they are very independent and maybe it has a "leave me alone" personality. Some cats are friendly, and some aren't. Pets and people need to have good chemistry, just like "people and people!" Good luck!!

How long have you had your cat? Cat's are a lot like people and do not like being thrust into new environments. Just give your cat some space, eventually it should acknowledge you and become curious about your company, but you can't force affection.
I had a similar problem with my Moms cat. It was scared of me but after a while it comes up looking for a warm lap. Give you r cat some space and let it get to know you on its terms.

It might sound counterintuitive, but you could try to play it cool and standoffish and NOT give it so much attention for a little while. Then, when THEY feel like it, they come up to you for attention. Also be sure to make eye contact in a warm way and not in an afraid or threatening way, and avoid sudden movements or loud voices. You can also try to carry a little food in your pocket in a plastic bag. Some cats just don't like anyone - it depends on their human relationships in their kittenhood - so don't be hurt!

well my grand parents had a cat that didnt like anybody and this is how i got it to miraculously like me. just dont give it any attention feed it and everything but take away the toys so that it gets bored because then it will crave attention because giving them toys makes them have things to do and they dont need your attention once it starts coming to you you can start petting it and once it gets used to you play with it with its toys and make it associate you with its toys and its food and eventually it will like you adn once it does start coming to you give it treats so that it knows that you are good and that you can make it happy and that you equal a happy tummy =P

Toys don't matter. Quality time with people DOES matter. Spend some friend time with him/her and talk quietly to your pet, their hearing is much better than ours and often they only hear the 'loud' and not the 'intent'.

He may not be affectionate, but he doesn't "hate" you. He's just aloof and territorial. Hang in there with him. Not a lot you can do, but do try and work with him. He doesn't realize he's supposed to meet you more than half way, as we like our pets to.

Try giving her a lot of personal TLC. If that doesn't work, change the owner.

Your cat might be trying to tell you that you aren't feeding her enough, she's lonely, or she's ill.
