why do people ask the question:
" guys, would you date me? "
Seriously, half the time they're lying about themselves anyways, not to mention their too young.
Is it because they're so desperate and they want to know if any one will like them online or something?
It's pathetic in my opinion.
What do you think of it?

I think confidence makes a person appealing, but many factors make them attractive. We in human nature have the ability to doubt ourselves. Becuase of the media's views on american society and what is "in" and "attractive" we have a hard time looking at ourselves and measuring up to that. That is why people ask those questions.

Sometimes its the only outlet of communicative sharing that they have. This may seem pathetic to those who have all the help & support they need in order to have self confidence. However, not every one is so lucky. Some need the extra outward communication that is made available to them here on Yahoo q/a. Maybe, if we could see past certain things, we could actually become supportive of those who do not have the same as others, and make our choices about others form an understanding point of view, rather than a judgemental point of view! Have a blessed evening!

Like you've suggested majority of the time it is a question posed by immature people seeking attention.

I reckon a lot of them are in middle school. In my book, middle schoolers get an awwwful lot of slack for being obnoxious... sorry, that sounds bad. But seriously - can you remember being 12?

maybe to have some attention, it's all subjective on line, remember..we have to even learn to trust someone in here, so its kinda of a tuffy if theyre kidding or really asking, it can be a cry for help

They might as well hold a big neon sign over their head that says "I have low self esteem". It is pathetic.

Maybe it's because they are desperate or maybe it's because they just want to know.
