more cardio and less weight training.
to lose weight you have to do cardio 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (preferably 45min) and do light weight training twice a week (many slow reps and 2-3 sets)
diet is 75% of the whole weight loss - you have to eat small meals every 2-3 hours (thats 5-6 small mealsa day) that way your body gets enough calories when it needs them and doesnt have any extra left to store in fat reserves.
eat whole grains, fruit, veggies, healthy fats, lean meat, fish, soy and milk products and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
stay away from simple carbs (candy, white bread, pasta etc), non -organic meat and sodium loaded foods as well as all junk food and sodas.
you need to see a nutritionist not a doctor.

Just because obesity runs in your family doesn't mean you can't lose weight and keep it off. It will take a lifelong commitment, but it can be done.
Since you can't get any help from a regular doctor, which doesn't make any sense to me, your best bet might be to get in touch with a personal trainer at a local gym.
And remember, muscle weighs more than fat. And considering that you lift weights 3x a week, chances are it is all muscle mass.
Don't focus so much on what you weigh, but how you feel. You are exercising and eating healthy (I assume), so if you lost weight it actually might not be that healthy for you. Keep in mind your lifestyle and activity level, and how you get that activity in.

Have you thought about eating 6 smaller meals every 2 hours. I am talking about small amounts of food and maybe lowering your total caloric intake to about 1500 calories a day. This may help keep your metabolism going...hope this helps in your weight loss efforts.

that's good that you are active. you should consider weight watchers, i know their slogan is corney but it really is "a way of life, not a diet". many people are unaware of how unhealthy alot of foods are. for example a cesar salad really is not very healthy. weight watchers educates you more then anything any you learn easy ways to cook healthy and still have it all taste the same. obesity "runs in my family" also, but that only accounts for about 30% of your health. the other 70% is up to you. so my recommendations is to give weight watchers a shot. see what you think.

Muscles aid in fat burning and increasing your metabolic rate so don't stop your weight training, maybe instead of carrying heavier weights, do lighter weights and more reps, or incorporate circuit training during weight training.

if you want to lose weight and not necessarily gain muscle, then you might want to try to stop lifting weights (they build muscle which makes you gain weight cuz muscle weighs more than fat) and eat 1500 calories instead.
