My husband got shot with a lead pellet in the back of the leg, they are telling us that it is ok to leave it in. What would you do?

My husband went to the hospital and got an x-ray and it is 1 1/2 in. in and 1 inch over, too deep for the er docs to remove, they suggested going to a surgeon. I spoke with one today and she said that they usually leave bullets like that in place because going after them could cause more damage. I was wondering if leaving it in would be a risk because of it being a lead pellet.

Dig for it with tweezers and an x-acto knife after a healthy slug of bourbon.

If the doctor says leave it alone, LEAVE IT ALONE! He's the one who went to med school. That's why he gets paid the big bucks.

It probably is ok. I know someone who has the same thing. The doctors told them to leave it. They are just fine.

Who is they?

If a doctor told you this, I would at least get a 2nd opinion. I'm not a doctor but it sounds unhealthy to me
