Heh, the point of the question was that did we bring any of the persecution on ourselves by our actions and/or inaction. Not so much the news-worthiness of the article. The article merely think about it.

It smells like bullshit, and i am sure not even a tenth of those cases are directly caused by religion. But that is my humble opinion and since christians have a persecution complex i am going to get lots of thumbs down ^_^

The only thing I agreed with in the article was that this country has in the last few years become very tolerant of anti-Christian views. The other answerer above was right. I didn't see any mention of where these Christians died. I can't honestly say I believe that more Christians died in the last century than in the medieval times during the inquisitions or even during the time of Christ. I don't think we have done this to ourselves in the sense of undermining ourselves but I think the way our constitution is set up has allowed subverse views to become dominate today. But not to worry. It is all part of our Father's plan.

It's funny that the article doesn't actually have any cases of where Christians have died for their beliefs. I seriously doubt you'll find very many in the US. In fact, I would bet that you find more people are murdered because they're gay and more are murdered because of the the color of their skin in a year compared to those murdered for being christian over the entire history of this country.
Most of the statistics in that article don't actually prove anything about christianity. One could just as easily say that crime is on the rise due to more vaccines available, or due to Howdy Doody going off the air. Heck, you could make a near correlative match to those stats and the constant drop in quality of Saturday morning cartoons. Just because you assert it's tied to your values doesn't make it so.
And let's look at some specifics. Where in the bible does it say not to drink and drive? What verse tells children not to bring a gun to school? Is it even immoral for a child to bring a gun to school? Unwise, certainly, but immoral? This article is nothing more than a paranoid screed, about as accurate as those reports that Oswald didn't kill Kennedy, or that the government was being 9/11.

Please! More spurious Christian twisting of statistics. Why aren't you making it clear that it was other Christians that killed most of those who died for their faith in the twentieth century. In both WWI and WWII the Axis and the Allies claimed their Christian God was with them. In point of Fact the Wehrmacht's belt buckles were embossed with "Gott Mit Uns." Both sides claimed that it was their faith in God that would give them victory.
An aside: Proclaimed Christians murdered Christian African Americans for a century without a murmur from the Christian church as a whole.

Uh, it says that almost all were NOT in America.
I didn't read the rest, but am skeptical.
As far as I know, no one is running around murdering Christians for their faith.
More often, there are Christians murdering other people for NOT being Christian.
Christians are a majority in this country; there's no way they'll be treated as Jews in Nazi Germany.

Could that be because Christians are getting more aggressive in pushing their beliefs, and are intruding into countries where they aren't wanted or welcome? Maybe if they kept more to themselves, they wouldn't be losing their lives. Some people in the world just aren't interested in changing their religion, and it's past time for Christians to figure that out.
