model str-av 67, i tried to lower the volume but it keeps popping up and the system goes into frozen mode.It's a red flashing bar on the screen, can this be bypassed?

Unfortunately not. It's indicating a problem with the receiver. It could be overheating due to a component problem or some issue with the power supply.
Best thing to do is take in for repair.

Hi there. It looks like the overload protection circuit has kicked in.Check all your wires,speakers input and output cables .There is a short circuit somewhere .If all the cables check ok then it might be in the Receiver itself which will need to be serviced.Lets hope it is not.

You might also check the speaker terminal connections int he back of the reciever. If it is going into protect you might have the speaker wires crossed which could be causing a short. The reciever will then lock itself up to "protect" itself
