In TKD we do things called patterns. It's a series of steps and moves done in a sequence. What we saw here, is people doing these patterns... to music. Why? No idea.

In fact I think it's almost insulting the art of the patterns by "performing" them like a dance or something.

The point of the patterns (At least to my developing understanding) is a form of meditation, the art part of Martial arts. It's where the mind and body inter-twine and harmony is found. It's the part that beginners find the most confusing and Critics have the most fun with, because it looks dumb and pointless to an outsider.

If you want to know how people in Martial arts find "Inner-balance" or Harmony, Patterns are one way of doing this. Of course there are other uses for them, and there are other ways of accomplishing inner Balance.

If you want your kids to learn dance routines send them to dance class.

As far as martial arts technique SLOPPY NO POWER AND OF NO MARTIAL USE AT ALL.
The whole purpose of kata is lost
