I have a Greatdane. He's so cute, and such a handfull. He drives me crazy some times, but I love him. He thinks he's a lap dog sometimes, and he's a big baby. He's only 14 months old. I got him when he was 3 months old.
Does anyone else have a Greatdane?
Is it rare for them to be white and have black AND grey spots?
cuz he's a harlequin.
His name's Gideon.
What is everyone's thoughts on Greatdanes?

It's fairly common, but that doesn't make it any less beautiful. Lucky for you to have such a big adorable sweetheart of a puppy! I love Danes - they are gorgeous when they run.

I have owned Great Danes for over 25 years. I show them in conformation, obedience and rally. One of my current Danes is a TDI certified therapy dog.
I have 2 fawns and a harlequin presently.
No harlequins are not rare nor are merles or really any other Dane color/combination.
The 6 accepted show colors:
Fawn, brindle, black, blue, mantle and harlequin.
A well bred Dane from a responsible breeder can and often does live into their teens. The average life span is 10 years (the same as a Lab or Golden).
If you are interested in Dane info I recommend the book The Great Dane Model of Nobility by Jill Swedlow. it is a great book for Dane lovers and is very informative.

I love them. Most Harles are black and white They are true lap dogs and love being indoors. My parents have bred danes since I was a child. Most only live 7 to 9 years. Obedience training is a must for these dogs. They also possess a great gentleness.

yes they think they are lap dogs. we have a 6 month old great dane andhe is also scared of everything. he is a fawn and he is just like a child into EVERYTHING! he can be a handfull at times. we love this breed!

Love Danes - they are sweet. Harlequin is a fairly common color pattern in Danes.

My cousin has 2 Greatdanes. One is blind and the other one is deaf. She loves them and so do I. They are really sweet. If you want another one you should rescue them, thats where my coudin got hers.
