No insurance.
I keep it clean and douse with peroxide. It itches like hell. I just want it to heal over so I can stop having to cover it.
I know my grandparents had natural cures for everything and when I used to get hurt, they had salves and potions that worked.
Give me natural solution tthat works.

There are people out there who truly cannot afford treatment, suck it up or not.
In some cases , the worst case scenario is the only one we have so we ask for advice to salvage what we can.
Those who truly want to help, please advise.

The wound will appear to heal, then itch like hell. Though I won't scratch, just the act of a slight rub to elliviate the itch takes the thin layer off. Scar tissue seems to be slowly approaching each other from each side in the healing process. I keep it very clean. It's just taking too long.
I have vitamin E, but of course it is too soon.
What can help to speed up the healing process and help with the itch.

The reason the would became infected in the first place was that, in keeping the original lesion clean, it healed over the cotton. Boy, was I surprised. I actually didn't know that kind of thing could happen. No, I did not put cotton on as a compress, I was using the cotton ball to clean the wound and remnants pulled off into the wound.
I had a dermatologist before my insurance disappeared, but he took research position at a loted national institution (Proudly, I might add) and the care I received subsequently was not as good as what he had provided me with.

For those of you who chose to answer without judgment and with only the physical and mental health of the "asker" in mind, I thank you. Peace of mind goes a long way in the healing process as well.

By the way, we did get the cotton cleaned out, but by then my favorite doctor was gone and my future dermatologists were Joseph Mengela (?). You know what I mean!

I am healing marvelously. Time taken to heal is that the wound was so deep, cotton strands caused infection set in and I had to pull clean cotton strands and deal with other issues. I have new scar tissue developing. I have stopped using the peroxide and a local store and aloe vera plants on sale. Isn't there a danger of putting the gel on an open wound (though it is much smaller now). I will be going to GNC when I get my child support to get the colloidial silver product.
I will keep you all posted.
I am still open for suggestions because I want the scar to shrink after it closed properly, as it is on my face cheek. It's not very large, just noticeable.

It also depends on how deep the wound is. If it's deep enough, footing the bill for stitches may be worth the difference of pain, infection, and long term problems that you may not even realize.
That being said, there are only a handful of things that can help repair tissue, and most of them are after the wound heals. You can use natural forms of Sulfur (like MSM) for connective tissues, and you can topically apply vitamin E to help minimize scar tissue... but make sure you wait until the wound has closed and has started to heal (meaning there's no hole and a scab may be there).
If it's more than half an inch deep, I'd say get a doctor to look at it, as you likely may need stitches.

Sorry about the accident. Hope that your feeling better. The cut it self should have been completely healed by now, however, the scar tissue in the underlying layers needs to be loosened up to give you natural flexibility and appearance. When I had surgery my doctor by advised me to use 'Scarzone' or one of the one over the counter creams of that type as soon as he removed the stitches. Apply in a circular motion with moderate pressure four to six times a day. Not only will this help to loosen the scar tissue but it will help to lessen the appearance of the external scar. It worked wonders for me. We thought that I would have a nine inch by 1/2 inch scar and though mine is nine inches long it is about as thin as a pencil line thanks to the Scarzone product. Also, stay out of the sun as much as possible and wear sunscreen or a hat. Best of luck.

The wounds healing is delayed b/c you are still using peroxide, which kills germs but can remove good cells and of course delays the healing. The wound is staying moist b/c it has to keep starting over.
Comfrey is a wound mender and bone healer just like the advice from Kelly G stated. Goldenseal powder can also be placed directly on the wound. You will need to cover the are until the new tissue has formed over it.
Goldenseal and Comfrey can be purchased at drug store in capsules that you can pull apart. Comfrey should only be used the first couple of days.
You place the comfrey on a gauze and cover with one layer, moist it and then tape the comfrey/gauze over the wound. Remove after 30 mins. and only use for a couple of days. Don't put the comfrey directly in the wound if you can avoid it.
Goldenseal, open the capsule and sprinkle contents on wound, then tape guaze on. You don't have to remove the powder from the wound.
Use both with care and watch the wound. Neither should burn and both relieve pain.

I would suggest using Colloidal Silver. You can buy it at the health food stores. It is a liquid that you can spray or dab on. It can also be mixed with a small amount of aloe before being applied...the aloe is a healer also, but in this case it also helps keep the Colloidal Silver in contact with your skin for a longer period. I would probably just try spraying first. Use SEVERAL times a day. It not only promotes healing, but helps with less scarring. I use one called Sovereign Silver. After doing some research on different kinds I found this to be the best...that's my opinion.
As far as getting cotton stuck to your wound, try using a sterile gauze pad instead..won't get any fuzzys from them. If you want more info you can go to www.sovereignsilver.info. Hope you give it a try. It's safe enough to even put in your eyes or give to children. Do some research to find the uses...I think you"ll be impressed. Good Luck!

If it really is deep and you can't afford to go get stitches, go to Wal-Mart and buy some butterfly stitches and put those on. Honey is a well known healing agent (kills bacteria and promotes healing) as is Extra Virgin Olive oil (just like honey). If you get those butterfly stitches, all you need to do it leave it alone and maybe put some neosporin on it. If you go the route of honey or olive oil, you should just clean it with some alcohol and dry it good before you dress it up. At night, try to keep it uncovered as that will also help the healing process a lot by letting it breathe. It is itching cause it is healing already.

I second those who said stop using peroxide. I also second those who recommended Comfrey and Goldenseal. Butterfly band-aids sound like a good idea (possibly).
In addition, Calendula spray (either tincture or in homoeopathic form) may be helpful to speed up the healing.
Calendula officionalis is something people can often grow for themselves, and is a great wound healer. If I had my own Calendula flowers, I would make a tea with them, and spray that on. Tinctures (ie with undiluted alcohol) might inflame your skin (and make it itch, as it is now).
Good luck!
Edit: I also second what was said above, by SoulDoctor.
DO NOT put honey on your wound, as honey is known to have various pathogens in it.... the Olive oil may not be a good idea for the same reason, IMO.

First, stop putting peroxide on it -- that's a stupid idea.
peroxide kills the bad things, which is wonderful, but it kills the good things, too.
If the would is REALLY deep, you should clean it using sterile saline, and pack it using gauze impregnated with something like calcium alginate, then apply a non-adherent top dressing.
It's not a good idea to attempt to treat a deep wound without medical direction and supervision -- unless you know what your doing, suck it up and see a doctor -- it'll cost you a lot more to lose your arm (or leg, or butt) than it would to see a doctor.

Purchase an aloe vera plant--it's a remedy that goes way back to biblical times. If your wound isn't healing properly you really should be checked for diabetis. that is one of the symptoms. I know what it's like not to have insurance--i didn't until last month after 3 years.

I would stop the peroxide because in a wound it kills healthy tissue. Use an antibiotic ointment & a bandaid covering.
It's probably itching because it is healing. That's normal for sores.
