God can be held accountable for anything man wants to shirk responsibility for. That's why we love God so much, he's the worlds greatest scapegoat and we make him in our own image. (or something like that) He gives us our beloved guilt which we use for everything we don't want to take responsibility for but can't, in good conscience blame him for. He punishes us when we are bad so we don't have to feel guilty anymore, well actually he doesn't punish us we just say he does or will so we can get away with murder and tell everyone we payed for our sins, like with good old god junior. And man, well he doesn't have to be accountable for anything as long as we have god around to take the heat. But best of all, with our trusty God around we don't even have to face our death because we can believe that we don't completely die. Yes God has reserved a nice little place for us in heaven with a spa and maid service and we even get our own parking space. Our father who art in heaven, hollow be thy name.

Man can't do anything with God. God does what He wants and when He wants. We are held accountable for our sins and God is the Judge. Man can't even stand if God will not allow him to stand. Man can't breathe unless God allows him to breathe. God can't be held accountable for anything. God is God and He does not change. How far do you plan to get with an all consuming fire? How far can man get against the greatest energy source ever known to anything?
You think that life if all about you. It's not all about you. Life is all about God. God is life.

That's a great question and understanding the answer can help a great deal in understanding the purpose of earth life and even the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Earth life is designed to help us grow and develop. To that end God gives us strengths and weaknesses to help us develop our character and/or to better help others. Each of us is born into circumstances that vary widely through no fault of our own.
A good argument could be made that we aren't 100% responsible for anything we do wrong due to these conditions. Where the line is drawn is a matter for significant reflection as we strive towards Christ-like lives.
This is why to gain the full benefit of the Atonement we must turn all judgement (of ourselves and others) over to Christ and seek to become like Him.

God can't be held responsible for anything because he doesn't exist.
The individual can be held responsible for most (but not all) of the things that happen to him. Sometimes a person is the victim of bad luck through no fault of his own.
