Nope- in any secular state- the state should not be imposing laws to force people to adhere to the beliefs of any religion within the country. Bottom line- what us Jews do, what the Muslims choose to do- is our business- and the state should not be imposing our beliefs and practices on others. Hey, from the Jewish POV there is no need for non-Jews to observe the laws of Kashrut anyway!

I think it should be banned for Muslims and Orthodox Jews. Oh wait, it already is, so what's the point of this question?

If someone doesn't want to eat pork, then don't eat it.

Just saw this article about a flesh eating bacteria in Texas. Some of the biblical laws were to protect people, such as eating pork that wasn't refrigerated (of course there were no refrigerators), or not cooking it enough, and shellfish, though I love it, is still very dangerous, as you can see: "People can also be infected by eating contaminated seafood. Raw shellfish, particularly oysters, pose the greatest risk, according to CDC. The bacterium causes nearly all seafood-related deaths in the United States, the agency says."

So regardless of whether you personally believe it right or wrong, or even dangerous, it's our own personal choice, not any particular religions worldwide decree.

Right now the pig is not kosher because it doesn't chew it's cud, and because it is, and was, an eater of garbage and feces, and what we eat is what we become. What we eat affects not only our bodies, but the state of our souls as well, and eating animals that eat feces pollutes both our bodies and souls.

Same with creatures that dwell on the bottom of the seas like clams and lobsters, they also eat the feces that floats down to the bottom of the ocean. We also do not eat aggressive animals like shark, so that we do not take on any of its characteristics, as Jews are a peaceful people.

There is a prophecy that when the true messiah comes, the pig will be cleansed and begin chewing it's cud and along with it's split hooves this is the full sign of a kosher animal. We will be able to eat it at that time.

The Muslims basically stole the concept from the Jews. The Christians didn't, but say that Jesus fulfilled the Law so they don't have to abide by it anymore.

This is a lie, because non-Jews never DID have to abide by it in the first place, they cannot be freed by Jesus from something they were never bound by in the first place, now can they. So that's a lie. The only laws applicable to non-Jews, and that includes Muslims, are the 7 Noahide Laws, otherwise known as the 7 Universal Laws, that are found in every culture in every era, as far back as the Sumerian civilization even:

1. Do not murder
2. Do not steal
3. Do not curse God
4. Do not commit idolatry
5. Do not commit adultery
6. Do not tear the limb from a living animal to eat it (apparently this was done. This is a law against cruelty to animals)
7. Do establish courts to uphold these laws in your society, for a fair and just society for all people, including the poor and widows.

So, to answer your question, nope. You aren't a Jew, so this law isn't binding upon you and never was. You're free to not eat pork if you don't want to though, whatever blows your skirt up.

I see no reasons to ban it, just because there are two religious groups that do not eat it. My husband told me that in theKoran it says thou shall not eat any animal that eats meat, which I guess back in the early writings of the Koran days alot of Pigs were eating meat. But now in the much more moderan days pig farmers keep the pigs in pins and they are fed natural grain foods.

I feel the pigs, hogs what ever you call 'em were put here on earth for a reason... and in case all of you haven't noticed there are people starving all over the world. Somebody should make good use of them!

Someone above said they are dirty animals... that depends on the farmer caregiver of the pigs. Chickens are pretty nasty scratching/pecking all around in the dirt and animals droppings laying about.

It's not a sin to eat with a spork! Where did you hear that?

The spork was the greatest invention ever created. School cafeterias everywhere are benefitting greatly from its sheer versatility. Imagine, an eating utensil doubling as both spoon and fork...all at once! How dare you call it a sin!

No you should not ban pork, because the prohibition only applies to Jews. Keeping kosher is one of the 613 commandment G-d gave the Jews.
The rest of humanity has 7 laws to follow, which do not include keeping kosher:

And vegetarians consider it a sin to eat any flesh. We cannot legislate these sorts of things, or the next thing you know, we will have a huge black market in meat, and it will not be properly inspected. I shudder to think where that would lead.

NO. Pork was banned in the bible because of health concerns, but the pork products of today are as good as beef products in quality and health concerns.

The old testament also bans the eating of most shellfish such as shrimp, lobster, clams, mussels, etc.

All things in moderation - even drinking too much water can kill you!
