Christian: homosexuallity is wrong. It says so in the bible.

Atheist: well name a reason homosexuallity is wrong without using the bible.

Christian: ok, easy, it's unnatural.

Atheist: So is medicine, telephones and airplanes.

Christian: yeah..... but...... the bible doesnt say those things are wrong, it says homosexuality is.

Atheist: Then name a reason homosexuality is wrong without using the bible.

Well, it's true that that's flawed logic. I'm going to refer to the Bible briefly, and then I'll go ahead and answer the question. If a person looks at everything that the Bible says is a sin (not including the Mosaic/Levitical laws, which apply only to Jews, not to Gentiles), it becomes obvious that they're considered a sin either because they can lead to the detriment of the person committing them (drinking to excess, for example), or to the harm of others (stealing, murder, lying...).

The question is, does homosexual sex fall under either one of those two? Well, it doesn't harm anyone else, that's true. But it CAN harm the homosexual. Sodomy in itself is like playing with fire. The anus can actually be torn from it, and it's a dirty area, so it's more prone to infection. FREQUENT anal sex can be extremely harmful. Then the risk of tearing or infection goes up to over 50%. It's RISKY.
Also, lesbians sometimes use foreign objects on each other. These, also, can be very harmful. They run the risk of infection, and it's also possible to tear the vaginal walls. In extreme cases, they can lead to infertility and even increased risk for cervical cancer. Ouch.

Then, add in the fact that HIV/AIDS infect more homosexuals than heterosexuals. This is according to the CDC website.

The reason that many Christians use the same logic that you saw is because that's really the only logic we NEED. God said it, we believe it. We don't need to ask why.

However, I don't believe like that. I need to know why.

I am a Christian, but I am more open minded. I agree with you. This is a problem I've had with much of religion. People try to use the bible to dictate their lives and take it literal. The bible may have been "breathed" by God, but it was written down by man. Man makes many mistakes. That is why I do not look at the bible as a the path, but a possible guide to look at.

I personally don't have anything against homosexuallity even though, according to the bible......it forbids it.

If you dance with the dancers, cry with the criers, joke with the jokers, and argue with the arguers, I think that's being respectful. Religion has always been a prime source of bigotry. But as Atheism is a religion, (and they'll argue about that) I haven't found them to be an exception. Some are respectful, some are not. Christians are the same. And if you want to talk tolerance, the satanists got us all beat!

It is not produced in factories, but in your desire to fulfill sexual urges that are in direct contradiction to the guidelines set forth in the nature of man and in the natural order of the universe itself, If it was wrong two thousand years ago, it is still wrong today.because you do not wish too abide by this truth , does not negate its truth. But it goes much deeper than that,You challenge the Creator, when you say you were wired wrong,God doesn't make mistakes,people do(freewill) People are still eating of the fruit of the tree Satan conned Eve into partaking of.You shall be like God ,knowing good and evil.The fruit wasn't an apple.it was the seed of rebellion(sin) against God And the natural order of things.Don't be deceived, God is still in control , and will restore the natural order of things after the sin(rebellion) issue is dealt with. The Bible also instructs us to love others unconditionally. Why is it people forget that but can quote what it says about homosexuality verbatim.

The problem is most Chrsitians just don't like homosexuals. They just don't like them. They fear them, they hate them, they're repulsed by them and they don't want them around. It's not a case of Christians trying to witness or give testimony to their faith. They hate gays so they're going to use the scripture to justify stoning these people.

And this is coming from a Christian. It makes me sick Christians are destroying the very message Christ gave us for blind hatred. It's perverse, and if you ask me I think that kind of hypocrisy breaks God's heart a lot more than a monogomyst relationship between two loving people.

Medicine, telephones, and airplanes have some unique, practical, redeeming social and economic values, and they operate according to the principles of the natural law.

Homosexual behavior is disgusting, disordered, perverted, and detrimental to both the homosexual, and to society as a whole, with no redeeming social or economic value, and it is also contrary to natural law.

Anyone with a brain can see the truth of this ... and they don't need to read it from a book ... any book.

I am not anti-gay. As a matter of fact I have a few friends who are "gay." My question is this. Why is it so "important" for many who ARE gay to be ACCEPTED ? and why do so many gay persons have this persecution complex and can't stand REJECTION ? How people live their lives is not of my business, just as how I live mine is none of yours UNLESS one or the other infringes on the rights of the freedoms we have. If a "christian" does not want to ACCEPT a gay person, why do gay people seem to think it is their DUTY to change their MIND ? We as humans are all from diverse backgrounds and not EVERYONE will accept another for we are not ROBOTS. Get over it......

Gee, sounds like a perfectly good idea to me - IF YOU WANT TO DROP CRAP OUT OF YOUR BUTT THE REST OF YOUR LIFE AND THEN DIE OF AIDS.
