Please star this question. I am hoping that someone can answer it, and tell me how to put my plan in action.

Here is my plan: We should have people make an account on a site like Yahoo!, then use the Yahoo! Messenger to chat with
strangers. If any of them come across as creepy (like a pedophile), this 'undercover' person can give them a fake number. This
telephone number should lead to a trained operator who can pretend to give them the address to a kid's house. But instead of the
guy going to the house and finding a kid to rape, he would find the cops waiting to arrest him.

This is somewhat similar to those shows they have on Dateline. Only there can be SEVERAL telephone numbers. And regular kids who feel
threatened when they are online can find out what the number is, and use it.

So who can I contact to tell about this plan? Can somebody give me a website or e-mail address to forward this question to?

I am 13 years old.

Well for one thing this is way out of your league and I have seen those shows on dateline myself and I was watching one tonight that they were in my home state of New Jersey, and I think they are great and I am glad they are doing that to catch these perverts as well.
If you have watched these shows than you should know that you should at least have a professional back ground in law enforcement or be affiliated with one if you want to do something like this and if you want a web site than go to (Date-Line.Com) or (Americas Most Wanted),do not try this on your own or with your friends because you have no idea how much trouble or danger you could get you and your friends in thinking that some predator could not find you that would be a big mistake.
Check out those web sites or even talk with your local police department as well they have the training and expertise to do this you don't you can even access the (FBI) web site as well they have information as well as the (U.S.Mashals Service) so there are quite a few web sites to look at what you would like to do the one thing is not to do it on your own you are not the professional they are work with them not opposite of them and you won't get hurt.

It's a good plan and I like your thinking on it. The only hole seems to be, if kids can find out these numbers. The predators also can do it and know when they are getting fake stuff.

But out of your whole theory, that is the only problem. Good thinking

However, I have to say, many police departments across the country are using things like that already to catch predators. There are also civilian online groups doing similar things.

Contact your city if and see if they have a similar program. If not, send your thoughts over and request they use it.

It's good to start getting involved with your community at a young age.

I'd call anyone who would be willing to listen. Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I think your local precinct would be thrilled to hear the idea. Also, if you're feeling that ambitious you can go ahead and start it yourself and spread the word amongst your friends and others who would be willing to help. Other then that, I'm not sure there is much else that you can do without alerting these pedophiles that something is up. Also, be careful how you go about this because their may be legal ramifications if you do it the wrong way, as NBC's "To Catch a Predator" is now finding out (which is absurd if you ask me, but hey...)

If you are getting unpleasant or creepy messages from people you should contact an adult.

Let the professionals handle it. Pretty much this is what cops do... they play a kid, and then the sicko drives out to meet them, but find cops instead. There is a lot of legal details that a sting has to meet, because you don't want the S.O.B to get off on a technicality.

what's the wear in ignoring him? in case you do not understand him and he seems creepy then the worst element you will do is block a random astounding guy. it won't subject count inspite of the actual incontrovertible fact that would desire to you do not look excited with the help of online relationship or in spite of like that. I say which you purely would desire to be on the reliable side. If he's very that creepy then report him. there are assorted places that get your hands on online predators.

the problem is that these young boys/girls are too trusting and are not informed enuf about this. It's up to the parents to make sure their children know about this, it's a good plan, but the preditors sometimes know when they are being tricked. There is a TV show about this where exactly what you are talking about is being done.

I feel bad for men that have to stoop that low to get a date. There are lonely grown women out there. I wish you 13 year olds would stop stealing them from us. What do you really have that we don't--you are just skin and bones, no brains whatsoever.

I think this question is a scam run by some adult. And you are all being duped. It doesn't make any sense that a kid would write this. You all are dumb.

Uh... Many law enforcement agencies already have people that do that. They then lure the pedophile to the "teen's" house. Leave the law enforcement to the law enforcement officers and those that have been trained to help them with online underage sex sting operations...
