Christian. They're not the same. Why? Different beliefs.I believe in the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus. My God does not contradict himself. He will not tell one group of people something then another group something totally different, so they can't be the same.

Cult:
1. A particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
4. A group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology: a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.
According to the above definitions, all religions are cults, so let's not bicker about which one is better and why.
In answer to the question, I was Mormon until about a year ago. Although Mormons try to be accepted as Christians, they really aren't because they believe in multiple gods.
A lot of the Christian belief system was imported from existing pagan beliefs that predated Christianity. This was common throughout history as a method to attract new converts.
I don't know enough about Jehovah's Witnesses to make an intelligent statement, so I won't say anything about them.
So, while there may be some similarities between these religions, they are definitely not the same.

Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses are both considered Christian, as they follow Jesus Christ. Of course, there are many so called Christians that like to call people names because they are afraid of anyone who many be a little different.
I do know that I haven't seen one Mormon or Jehovah's Witness get on here and call another religion names. They may question a belief, but they do not lump any group of people into a derogatory category. In that sense, they are more Christian than most.
The question is which religion or individuals are truly living up to Jesus example of a "true christian"? To have love among themselves and to love their neighbor? Being self-righteous is not being Christian.
I have a book the History of Religion. Mormon's and Jehovah's Witnesses are listed under modern movements, not cults. Cults listed are Jim Jones, David Karish.

I am none of the above. I got the need to fulfill my day by picking up truths of Yahweh/Jehovah God and Yeshuah/Jesus. That is the reason why I spend time on Yahoo R&S. I find there are people here that are totally gifted and moved by the Holy Spirit. Very well knowledgeable. I know because I still search and have that longing and need to find the "True House of God" that the Holy Spirit will guide me along my path. I got guided here (R&S) I believe by the Holy Spirit because it is only here that I can hear (read) all different religion in all one place. So to that all believer's of Jesus, have a good Sabbath Day and try to get your stuffs done by dusk today. I do try, really I do.

There are differences in every christian denomination. I was born and raised mormon, although I am no longer. I didnt leave because i had anything against their beliefs (I don't believe in most of it now, except the part about Jesus being the Savior and the only way to the Father) I just left because I wanted to worship Jesus more with praise and worship songs and alot of people seemed to be rather sensitive about that, because they see it as part of a different denomination. I see more differences between Mormons, Catholics, Evangelicals, etc., than before now that I'm older, but I want to see people the same like I used to. (It's alot more christlike) Everyone is at different places in their beliefs and understandings, and they often change as a person learns. Every church has mistakes in their belief system, even the ones who pride themselves in their "perfect" theology. (no church or person knows or understands everything perfectly, only God is perfect) I don't look at that for the simularities because there will not be very many, I look at how much someone loves Jesus and how their lives have been changed by repenting, turning from their old ways, and following Him. That's what it's all about!

this can be explained without even getting to deep into scripture. But before I do I must clear something among my own brothers and sisters in christ stop refererring to jesus as the trinity its godhead. Romans ch 1 :20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead;so that they are without excuse. The Godhead you can read about gods character in 1 john 5:7 For there are three that bear record heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one. So one god but three divine characterists. The word trinity was derived from the egyptian's believing in three separate god's. Osiris, Horus ,and isis. Next title that i hear fellow christians define as the second coming of jesus as the rapture. You will never find the word rapture written in the bible. the bible explains the events of great tribulation in matthew 24 and how after the tribulation of those days one will be grinding at the mill one taken and the other left behind and so on and so forth no where does it say the word 'Rapture'. First off jehovah witnesses founder was a man by the name of james t russell and mormonism was founded by joseph smith sometime in the 1800's. His own followers when it began in the 1800's realized he was a heretic and he eventually was burn to death. Christianity is founded on God not a man the root word is christ and we are followers of god led by his holy spirit when we are born again. Jehovah witnesses bible's omit everything that is in red in our kjv bibles trying to omit jesus's deityship as part of the godhead. While mormonism believes in saved by works and not by grace as we know in ephesians 2:8 we are saved by his grace. Furthermore they used to believe the whole black race is cursed and that jesus and lucifer were brothers. When we know according to st john 3:16 that god offered his only begotten son. Also they believe that when they go to heaven they become their own god's. Back to jehovah witnesses they omit key scriptures in the new testament that show christ's deityship of the godhead. St john 1:1 in the begining was the word and the word was with god and the word was God. The word is jesus that was made flesh and dwelt among us. Jehovah's vesion says. In the beginning was the word and the word was a god. confustion, right you cant add or subtract from god's word. Dr. J. Johnson: California State University, Long Beach. When asked to comment on the Greek, said, "No justification whatsoever for translating theos en ho logos as 'the Word was a god'. There is no syntactical parallel to Acts 23:6 where there is a statement in indirect discourse. Jn.1:1 is direct.. I am neither a Christian nor a Trinitarian.

Christian. A CHRISTian has a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus CHRIST. I am born again, baptized, and saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. I have a relationship with God - I don't do the "religious legalism" (i.e. you have to do this, you can't do that, law law law) Christians are free from the law; we live under grace.
I make no claims on anyone else's faith; however, it's my understanding that Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in the Trinity, so they wouldn't be Christians according to the bible. Jesus said that He and the Father are one, and that He would send His Holy Spirit to the believers. I believe the bible is the word of God and that it is all true.

I, personally, believe that JWs and Mormons are separate from Christians. Of course, others will disagree- but this is just my personal belief.
Why? Although both faiths claim that they acknowledge the bible and similar Christian doctrine, their theology just doesn't seem compatible.
These are my two cents.
