Yes Sunshine, he will cherish those pics, even if he has to pay for them with pushups and harrassment.
Keep 'em clean though, if they're the 'good' pics, everyone will get to see them and he may not get to keep them. Save the good pics for later.

Should have asked this BEFORE you sent them. It used to be procedure to send the parents a form letter ostensibly from the Commanding Officer, that tells a little about what their son or daughter will be doing for the next few weeks, It is usually accompanied by all the clothes he wore, and any personal items he might have carried with him. Some where there should be a list of what can be sent to the recruit. Unfortunately friends aren't on the mailing list. In the future, you might want to ask his parents.
If it's a small picture he can keep in the pocket of his shirt... and it's in good taste... and as long as you're not particularly attractive... he might be allowed to keep it. But if it's 8x10 he has no place to keep it. If it's at all suggestive, or if you're at all good looking, he may never see it.
Sending anything other than letters to a soldier or sailor in boot camp is ill advised.

Letters are best. If he has absolutely no pictures of you then send one. Not a large size, like a wallet or snapshot.
I was sent postcards and greeting cards- that was pretty cool 'cuz I could show people my hometown on the postcards.
Just remember he has very little space to keep all his stuff- just 2 little drawers that would be about the size of one in a bedside table.
But like everyone else has said- don't send anything you wouldn't want anyone else to see.

Pictures that you would show your dad are allowed.
Generally letters are not opened or screened unless there is a valid reason.
It is ILLEGAL for someone other than Postal workers to open any mail. If the mail is opened by postal workers there will be a verification seal, or stamp along with the reason.
Packages are generally not advisable to send. Those will be opened by the soldier in front of the Drill's. Care packages are generally bad.

He can have pictures in boot camp. Yes to mess with him he may have to do a little PT but he would probably not mind. I know i didnt when i was in his situation. As far as other items I know when I went through boot camp they took everything but pictures and letters.

If you post your pictures on the web somewhere, nobody could take them and everyone could view them.
Buy a domain name like www.i_support_my_man.com for about a hundred bucks a year and be able to thumb your nose at “whomever”. Your boyfriend will be able to send the URL to his buddies and you'll have total control of what anyone sees.

I would imagine you can send him anything you want, as long as its not illegal. But, just to be on the safe side, just send him a letter and tell him you will give him the pics when he gets out. Its only what, 8 or 9 weeks long?

anything taken from him will be locked up safely and will be returned to him when he graduates. they don't 'confiscate' or destroy stuff. he might not be able to keep the photos while he's in bootcamp, but he'll get them back when he's done.
don't send him X-rated photos, no matter what! he might get into trouble over that stuff.

i would SERIOUSLY suggest that you do not send any pics to him during boot camp or trade school................all mail is checked / opened in front of some one etc and sometimes they can be a little cruel over even the most innocent pics.
not worth the extra BS he might get.............just make sure he has a nice one in his wallet of the two of you when he goes away and then take LOADS when you go to his graduation.
regards
