I have loadsa aussie mates and we have a bit of banter....Like we trade insults, all meaningless stuff - I call them the "convicts", they call me "Lord John".
Why is it that you can never fully insult an aussie cos they're so light-hearted?

I tried the same banter in France and had to make a James Bond-style escape out of the mens toilets cos there were three fellas with fists clenched chasing me (24) in a feckin' french bar........

You can insult us... you guys rarely know the buttons though. I guess the whole convict thing is so light-hearted to us because really, we got the better end of the deal. I've decended from both convicts and settlers and if you think about it, 7 years in Australia vs dying, hmmm. And then once the convicts had it all set up (along with the few people who actually wanted to try living here) heaps more poms wanted to come on over. So calling us convicts, we're proud that we went from nothing to more than you guys have, so you can have your titles.

(And the French, sorry, no one like them...hehe)

We are becoming more and more Americanized though...its a pity....kids these days are a bit different. I miss all the old Pommies humor with shows like Faulty Towers, Keeping up Appearances etc. All that good stuff. I guess what our two cultures have in common is that we don't take ourselves too seriously....we can laugh at ourselves and enjoy "taking the piss" with our sarcastic dry humors.

I dont think of comedy expertise relies upon on the place you come again from yet Britain seems to be a super place to discover it anyhow. American's can pull it off only as properly whilst they positioned their minds to it (Simpsons, Malcolm interior the middle). in case you like British comedy then perhaps you will desire to have a look into all the classic BBC sit down coms like Blackadder, only Fools and Horses,Mr Bean, Porridge etc (the DVDs of all of them are extraordinarily elementary to song down on line). in case you like satire then attempt finding for Mock the Week and characteristic I have been given information for You on BBC Iplayer or Youtube. in case you want stand-up then i might advise Al Murray, Jack Dee and Dara O'Briain who all have clips on youtube.

I was born (and mostly raised) in the US, lived in the UK almost 6 years and have lived in Australia almost 20 eyars.

Australians definitely do NOT have the same sense of humour as Brits.

They both differ from the American sense of humor, but they are not the same as each other.

Yes we do have very similar sense of humour I think that is why Dame Edan is so popular in Britain and we love all the old pommy shows like "The Two Ronnies","The Good Life" and "Are you being served" American humour just isn't the same.
So its good night from me and good night from him.

Australians know that they are superior to Poms in every way. Why should we take the witless ramblings of inferior beings seriously?
