If Jesus is really coming back, do you think he ever wants to see another cross?

I know if I'd been crucified, and was born again, the last thing I'd ever want to see was another cross.

Its a bit like turning up to the family of an axe murderers victim, with a felling axe under your arm, just to keep the memory alive.

Surely there must be a better symbol to remember him by.

Actually there isn't. A better symbol. The cross is dicated by God himself as the sign of his children.

According to the Book of Ezekiel (9:4) -- God marks with the TAU those who are his. In ancient Aramaic - the tau is a small cross, like a lower case "t". Just like the ones we wear today. In the Greek it is T.

You won't find that in Protestant bibles. Since Martin Luther decided to match his bible to the anti-Christian Council of Jamnia. Later Protestants followed his lead.

Even some Catholic bibles have white washed it out. What a pity because it means so much! But the Douay Rheims and Jerusalem bibles all say tau or cross. You can also find it in the Hebrew Study Tanach. But only in a tiny footnote.

Douay Rheims Bible
And the Lord said to him: Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem: and mark Tau upon the foreheads of the men that sigh, and mourn for all the abominations that are committed in the midst thereof.

The meaning of tau is "covenant." While Revelation does not state what is used to mark the foreheads of God's chosen - we can easily determine it is once again the tau.

Tau is the last letter of the Aramiac alphabet. Jesus would have said - in his own language - "I am the Al and the Tau." not alpha and omega. Al means leader. He is the leader and the covenant. The covenant in his blood.

I heard someone give a really good speech about the cross and suffering once - I will try to sum up what I remember about the speech....
You are right - at first thought, the idea of a cross - a symbol of suffering, is repulsive. If you look at other symbols of other religions (a star, a moon, etc) they are all symbols of what God has made and they are beautiful and to be admired. But Christ takes something that is man made - the cross and takes what is repulsive about it and turns it into something beautiful - our salvation!
When we wear a cross, or make a sign of the Cross, we are literally marking ourselves as a target, which is exactly what Christ teaches - "take up your cross and follow Me." To truly follow Christ, we make ourselves a target for suffering - we follow the Way of the Cross. By wearing the Cross, we are saying - "This is who we are. We are Christians who follow Christ and follow in His footsteps, even unto suffering and death."

No you must be a JW.

The cross is where Jesus laid down his life for all .
There is nothing wrong in remembering what He did for us.
It shows the love He has for us that He gave His all on the cross.
The cross is a reminder of that bridge that fills the gap between God and our sins. We must walk the way of the cross in order to get to the otherside.

Well as we all know Jesus is perfect and he wont not like it if someone is wearing a symbol tht shows they remeber him and honor him. Jesus was crucified on the cross but he did it for us and would prob do it again. I understand ur point of v eiw though. I think hell be happy we still keep his spirit with us though! Jesus is loving and forgiving so i dont think its a problem.

Hope this helps answer ur question,
Kristen

The Glory is not in the crucifixion...it is in the resurrection!!! I do not think it is offensive to wear a cross and Fire breather777 is right when he says "many people wear them for different reasons" I believe that if someone is trying to make a statement of faith they will do it with more than wearing a cross, people should know us by our LOVE not by the crosses and bumper stickers we display, further more if we do make a display of our faith by wearing crosses etc we need to make sure our LOVE is showing.

No, He wouldnt be upset, we dont worship Him and we put them on as reminders of what Jesus did. We all know He has risen. We will never forget what Jesus did. For the ones who dont know what Jesus did it may be offensive but to us it is the power of God. He did something extraordinary on the cross.

You're assuming that the Cross was an accident, or a loss. The Cross was Christ's greatest Victory. That was where He destroyed all of humanity's enemies. What's offensive about THAT?

I think Jesus is the type of person who can handle his people wearing crosses. He is God and is not shocked or offended by our behavior. I personally don't wear a cross but I don't think it is any big deal to do so. It really sounds like you don't like the idea of others wearing crosses.

Christians wear crosses, I beleive as a reminder to ourselfs for what he did for us on the cross, he understands, he is God and knows what is in a persons heart, he's not offended the way we as mere mortals can be before we are born again, I ask you to invite him into your heart today if you have not already done so.

No, he won't, he never got offended, it's a choice to be offended you know, and at any rate, they are not worn to insult him, but to honor him, so he will take it thus, if that is why the person is actually doing it.

I don't wear them, I am lds, or 'mormon' and we don't have that as our symbol...our's is more the way we live.
But that's outside the question.
Later and be well
Reft

PS No offence meant to anyone
religious subjects are senisitive, sorry if I breached anyones line.
