It depends; what kind of analysis are you talking about here? I favor textual criticism and higher criticism, such as that used by Bart Ehrman, Robert M. Price, and others. It seems to be the only way to get at what, exactly, the New Testament is saying. Now, you have to be ready to face some ideas that are very different, but I feel that I have a greater appreciation for the bible due to their works than I ever did due to a pastor or other religious leader. Basically, this line of inquiry into the bible starts with, "Okay, how do the different versions of such-and-such gospel differ? Why do they differ? What does that say about the author? What was the author trying to get at?" It fearlessly follows the question through, no matter what it might mean for one's own beliefs.

Here is one point that I would like to make. The writers of the Christian Greek Scriptures quoted the Hebrew Scriptures hundreds of times. In the Christian Greek Scriptures, the New World Translation presents as direct quotations 320 passages from the Hebrew Scriptures. According to a listing published by Westcott and Hort, the combined total of quotations and references is some 890. (The New Testament in the Original Greek, Graz, 1974, Vol. I, pp. 581-595)

All the scriptures of the Bible are tied together and you have to study each part of it in order to understand the whole. It is kind of like a jigsaw puzzle where you have to have all the pieces put together and in the right place in order to see the whole picture, except that it is more complicated than that.
