Do you think people make judgments too quickly based on someone’s race, appearance or social status? Is it possible for someone to put aside these snap judgments and be truly without prejudice?

Nope.

Even if we aren't so-called racist or sexist, we all make snap judgements about people when we first meet them. There's no way beyond that. It's not only based on race, sex or religion--it's based on how you protray yourself.

I think it's a parents job to instill these things in young children. I know that every time my daughter looks at someone who is different, whether it be they have red spikey hair, or are in a wheelchair with no legs, I let her know that they are still people, and have the same blood running through their veins as we do. If she ever laughs at someone, I turn the tables on her and make her face how she would feel if someone was laughing at her because she had blonde hair, or a toothless grin...you get the point. If we all started teaching our young the right way to deal with differences, I do believe that one day, we can all live in peace with respect for one another.

The way to overcome one's prejudices is to make judgments objectively. It may take practice if you are used to judging people by stereotypes. You can do it if you try, but the crucial question is: Do you want to or not?

honestly no i dont think you can ever completely get rid of prejudices its just basic human nature but the way to overcome it is to not let it make ur decision and people do make judgements too quickly sometimes and thats the real problem yeah sometimes ur inital feeling is usually right but also u should give people a chance
