I just joined a band a few months ago.. We played lived in a bar with about 100 people..I was so nervous and scared out of my mind, my heart started skipping beats..We did 3 songs then our set was up...I sat down took a deep breath and everything was normal.. The next week we played live again and it did it again! What does this mean?

sounds like an anxiety attack. make sure that you do the deep breathing before you go on stage and you will be fine. i know its hard but just try practice deep, deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. the breath needs to go into your diaphragm (your tummy should poke out when you take a breath), not into your chest as that increases your heart rate and makes you feel like you are hyperventilating. read up on it and then practice it. good luck!

An others already mentioned, it sounds like anxiety.

Rest assured there are MANY stars (singers, stage actors, even comedians) that get physically ill (i.e. vomit) before going on stage. I'm not talking about new performers either, but seasoned professionals that are simply overwhelmed by the act of performing in public.

In other words - there's nothing abnormal about what you're going thru; it happens to tons of other performers. If it continues, it wouldn't hurt to see a doctor to make sure it's nothing more serious or if there's something that might help you. (DO NOT START ON THE TRANK THING!)

Good luck with your career!

Probably just a physiological reaction to the nerves and adrenaline, but if you are concerned you could ask your doctor to refer you for an ECG (electro cardiograph).

Probably anxiety, it can have quite a number of various symptoms. As long as it stops and doesn't happen for no reason, then you are likely fine.

Maybe it's just adrenaline. If it continues, I think the best bet would to see a doctor.

You need to relax while on stage. You are too nervous and experiencing anxiety.

It means you were REALLY scared, but as long as it's beating normally now, you'll be fine.
