this is to those who say they know there is a god. isn't it sort of contradictory to say you know he exists and then to say that he wants everyone to have faith that he exists? think of it this way. let's say you watch a movie, and you find out how it ends, i.e. the good guys win. the next time you watch that movie, do you have faith that the good guys will win, or do you know they will win?

I know my mother and father exist, I have seen them, talked with them. I do not have to have faith that they exist.

I have not met God, and although I do believe He has answered my prayers, I have not had a conversation (2 way) with Him. So, I must have faith that he exists and in my heart I "know" he exists because I use my eyes of faith.

He does not want us to have faith that He exists, He wants us to have faith IN him, that He IS God, that He is all powerful and that we will meet Him in heaven.

Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities not yet beheld.

I am assured that God exists, without proof. I have faith that what God promises will become realities.

Everything starts with faith. I don't believe you can ''prove" a person into the Christian faith. But it's a funny thing after you believe, God shows Himself to you in a way that might as well be proof. I'm not saying that there isn't evidence that back up or reinforces our belief. There is much in science that supports a creator. There are books like The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel and Why I Believe by D. James Kennedy full of great evidences. It's just that the Holy Spirit has to draw you to faith. It always begins with faith. God Bless!!

Yes, we have Faith, that's why we believe He exists. There may not be proof of that, but you cannot prove He doesn't exist. That's just a lack of faith.

Very good! The movie metaphor is quite a good one in this case. Once you have opened the package, you know what is inside. It doesn't take faith; you have information.

what's your question? how do we "know" he exists? I don't guess we have actual proof, but we just believe the best that we can and like you said, have faith. I'd rather believe in God than nothing! Just because I do not have any proof does not mean that He isn't real.

I think people just feel comforted in thinking there's a great almighty being protecting them. Atheists accept the fact that there might not actually be a God out there, and they can live with that but others probably find it hard to.

The character in the Bible wants people to have faith. That doesn't mean the character exists in reality.

I don't think that's a valid analogy...

faith in the dictionary= complete trust, unquestioning confidence.
we know god exists we need faith to be confident that he will always do what is best for us. we are human and prone to doubt.

That is a main dilemma for people here... why are they arguing facts when its "the faith" they're arguing about?
