Nothing's wrong with it. Nobody's upset that they weren't here before they were born, so why would anybody be upset that they're gone when they die?

The only thing wrong with being 'just dead' is that it simply doesnt happen. There must be something after we die because - there is!
If there is something after death, then there must be something before this life, right? It is logical, right?
So, how can we prove that something happens in the future for each of us? Wouldnt it be easier to prove something that happened in the past?
I dont mean to upset anyone, but I hear of christians getting to know god but it is still (in my opinion) an interpretation of the answer they get to their prayers etc.
I prefer to be able to actually experience things for myself.

This is from my own personal experience:

You and all of us are imortal. You are the soul or the spirit and you have a body. When the body dies, you get another one. You are the one that gives your body life, and you are the one that thinks. Why else is it that when you close your eyes you are no less you than with them open?

Even the bible used to contain information about past lives except it was taken out in about 500 - 1000 AD.

Hope this helps. You can email or I.M. for more info.

Well, it's either one way or the other, and it doesn't matter what makes sense to me or you or anyone else for that matter. All that matters is what the truth actually is, and it's very difficult to prove it one way or the other, since "dead men tell no tales," to quote Pirates of the Caribbean. People come to different conclusions based on different life experiences. Life seems rather pointless to me if there's just nothing afterward. I think some of the greatest evidence for this how we are different from other animals. We wear clothes, we have morals, we make tools. Also, doesn't it seem like everything is set up for us? I think the conditions on this planet are a little too perfect for life to just spring up. No matter what you believe, there's an element of faith involved. If you don't believe in God, and you do believe in the Big Bang theory, there's a certain amount of faith you put into the fact that everything came from nothing. I happen to put my faith in the fact that, yes, there was a Big Bang, but something caused that Big Bang to happen. I think everything came from something: an eternal force, a being we know as God.

Because "just being dead" doesn't exist. One has an eternal destiny, and there are only two places; heaven and hell. The reason there "must" be something after we die is because there will be something after we die: judgment. And knowing who Jesus is makes all the difference.

There is nothing "wrong" with being just dead...but what is really right about it??? God wanted us to be with Him in Heaven forever, after we die and leave this earthly life. So that sure beats just being dead.

people need something to hold on to when they lose someone they love dealry, to feel alone on the planet is too much, so there is comfort in thinking that when someone dies they can watch over you and carry on in some other way. I am not sure what I personally think. My sister and best friend died two months ago from a long fight with cancer, so I am being challenged with my ideas.

I think it is probably more the prospect of our -loved ones- being "just dead" that fuels our desire for an afterlife, more than our concern for our own death.

It is much more difficult to accept that someone we cared about is just gone forever. Many people prefer to believe many things before believing that.

You cannot "be" dead. After death, there is no more being.
