I prefer the more traditional hymns and Gospel. Some of the modern interpretations of the classics are pretty good.
I’d say that most contemporary Christian music is on par with other types of contemporary music. Forgettable, IMO.
My sister and I agree that the best thing about growing up in a Southern Baptist church was the music. We could make a joyful sound. Many of the classics really speak from the heart.
I honestly can’t think of any of the newer songs that will be considered a classic in 100 years.

The whole idea of Christian music is to praise God by way of singing. There are many Christian singers and groups without a record deal and with little hope of getting one. I wonder if you're trying to imply that people such as Dorothy Love Coates, James Cleveland, Mahalia Jackson etc. lack talent. As for creative lyrics and originality, there are only so many ways to preach the same message in song. It really doesn't seem that you are genuinely a preacher's son as you appear rather anti-Christian in your fierce attack on Christian music and Christian performers.

I hate to say it but Almost all christian music sux. I think it is because music as an art form is raw and unbridled and that is not the way Christian's are raised. They have a lot of boundaries and a lot of them are taught to not think outside of the box. Keep in mind I said most not all.
I think it is because of this that most christian music lack passion and soul. From what I have heard it is all the same caca if you can play a guitar you can make a christian album with a big christian record label. Which sure doesn't leave much to listen too for Christians who only want to listen to Christian Music.

Well personally I like some of the new christian music some of it is really good, but if they are trying to send a good message the music videos are no better than the regular worldly music videos. Your right though it is easier to get a record deal if your a christian and a lot of people that are not Christians use that to break into music and it is wrong. That is why there is a lot of bad christian music out there, because the musicians are not christian.

Yeah, being an atheist I've got to admit, "Christian Rock" supplies your detractors with a wealth of material. It is some of the most unoriginal, uninspired, bubble gum crap played on the air today. Every song sounds like a bad Coca Cola commercial, except they're selling Jesus instead of soda-pop.
I guess U-2 is an exception. Many consider them to be Christian rock and although I'm not a fan, their talent can't be denied.

That is your opinion and there is nothing wrong with that. I can only handle the music for a little while myself. You're right, it all starts to sound the same. They all speak of the same thing. Don't feel bad saying it, you are being honest and that is more important. I like Amy Grant, and the one song that is my favorite is Angles Watching Over Me. You know what, it isn't for the lyrics either. Though, they help. It is the music itself.

Everyone has their own opinion, but obviously a lot of Christians like the new Christian music, which is why so many people buy it, you are wrong in judging people who listen to music other than is played in Church.

Hello Linz. I think perhaps your being a little too critical.I also think that like most commercial outlets, your getting people climbing on the bandwagon so to speak, who make music, but are in no way-Christian. It's just another venue for making money. But then it's really up to the listener. If one is uplifted by it, where's the harm?I am a bit like you, but I don't bother to listen to christian broadcasts; 'cos I get fed up with the constant barrage of bible readings.I like to believe my way.

Check out Canadian Christian musicians like Lianna Klassen, Brian Doerksen, and Ali Matthews. Find a CD called Sea to Sea. It's full of really good Canadian Christian music.
