"smork"? Yea, you're a "new typist". And yes, the tobacco tax needs to go. Smoking is an assumption of risk that others are not allowed to comment on while I'm puffing away. I really don't care one way or the other what anyone thinks about my habit.

Yes, it is unfair unless they ALSO placed a sin tax on other things. The 'reasoning' is (and no, I don't smoke) that cigarettes cause insurance rates to rise for everyone. Well, so does obesity, and while I understand you can't have 'second hand food'...I actually question that. If you're an overweight parent, you will generally pass those eating habits down to your children who in turn...continue the trend. There are studies out now, that show that obesity is surpassing smoking as the #1 preventable killer.

I also saw the other day, where the government is trying to fund the creation of a safe cigarette. Imagine that! Makes you wonder if all the people they've convinced to STOP smoking, are causing a dent in the taxes they were receiving from the sale of cigarettes. If they can put a man on the moon and hair plugs into the heads of bald people...surely they can make a safe cigarette...still get their money and keep people safe!

This tax is unfair because the people who dreamed it up say that this tax goes to insuring children. It's a lie. 10 years ago they did the same thing raised the tax on cigarettes here in California, saying it would all go to insuring children, it didnt, it went into their pockets. This new tax is said to not only insure children, but the hospitals endorsing it also have a say in where that money goes. The hospitals get to decide if it is to go for children to be insured or if they need a new coffee machine. This is something that they are trying again to get on the ballot here in California, it was voted down once when everyone found out the truth of this bill. And now they are trying again, but the stats have not changed, hospitals will still be the ones deciding where the money will go.

Move to Tennessee where tobacco grows easily... OR use the nicorette gum, which is quite expensive but works, & you only have to pay for it once. I was a 2 pack a dayer, for at least 10 yrs. I QUIT! YAY FOR ME.... Quitting tip... quit with a buddy!
EITHER THIS OR....
Get a better education, therefore a higher paying job, then smork all you want.

smork

An Engrish term for 'smoke'.

Engrish
A form of English characterized by bad translation from Japanese by someone who is decent at translating vocabulary but has a poor grasp of English grammar. Tends to be a word-by-word literal translation with humorous results for native English speakers. Engrish is most common in old video games and anime subtitles.

The term "Engrish" comes from the fact that the Japanese language does not have distinct L and R sounds. They do have a consonant that is roughly somewhere in between these two sounds, but whether this translates to L or R in English depends on the situation (and therefore can be interpreted wrong.)

All your base are belong to us. (Your bases are all under our control.)

A winner is you. (You win.)

Somebody set up us the bomb. (Someone has placed a bomb on our ship!)*

Make your time. (I have no idea what this means.)

*PS: The original form of this is "set up us," not "set us up" as most people say it. If you're going to make fun of the bad translation, try to get all the mistakes.
