Bitter atheists too.
You're an atheists cool, fine, whatever. But why do most of the atheists seem mean? Ya know a convo like this. "I believe in God." "Oh, you do? Well I don't."

But instead we get this. "I believe in God." "Oh, you do? Well no one asked you and God doesn't exist and your a fool for praying to God. Because you're really praying to nothing. You're stupid. When you die that's it it's over, and I hope it's soon."

agree to disagree friends?

I'm not saying that they're aren't any nasty Christians. (I just happen to not be one of them.) But I'm just asking about the bitter atheists.

When people tell me they don't believe in God. I just ok. I don't try to convince them and badger them just like I wouldn't want someone to badger me into thinking there's no God.

good q................

atheist claim to be indifferent yet they spend hours on the religious forum of YA making sure Christians know they're wrong.....i guess it makes them feel better and feel more sure than they really are about the universe and God

Honestly, I see a lot more, "Hey, you're an atheist? You're going to hell!" type comments than those of which you speak. I don't doubt those comments exist and were made by some bitter atheists, but I wonder if there's a little selective remembrance going on here. Or perhaps a lot of us who answer questions don't necessarily say, "Yo! I'm an atheist!" so you don't notice those answers as much.

Well, most theists don't stop with, "I believe in god."

It's usually something more like, "I believe in god, and I feel sorry for all the non-believers who won't be saved", or "I believe in god, how can you possibly think the universe just sprang into being."

Belief in anything unprovable requires faith, and faith is an inherently irrational way to approach life. When theists suggest existence is impossible without subscribing to an irrational belief, atheists can't help but find this absurd, hence you get contentious responses.

I agree. I also think that the extreme Christian right tends to have similar answers and swipes. It would be nice if on this list people would respect the religions, or lack thereof, of others and have constructive discussions. It's clear how little we know about each other. Let's take the time to learn.

Because there ARE a whole bunch of atheists on Y!A. I haven't noticed we're especially bitter, though.

I don't often call theists "stupid and foolish". I'm not the biggest fan of ad hominem attacks.

There are just a lot of angry people out there being picked on in their real lives...this forum gives them an outlet to be anonymously mean to someone else. I think they realize they can get a rise out of someone who has faith...so they stomp all over your beliefs. It's pretty sad when you think about it. Have a little compassion for these lost souls and be joyful because you know where you stand and who stands beside you. :)

I find it harder to find a mean Atheists then a nice christian. Most christians as soon as they find out that I'm atheist will tell me I'm lost, I'm going to hell, I'm a no good human being. And all that comes with just one sentence... "I'm not christian."
So I ask you.. why are christians so bitter?
