The US Navy are proposing to use sonar again in 70% of the worlds oceans.
Whales in particular will suffer.

The LFA sonar is dangerous and damaging to Whales and Dolphins,causing disorientation,beaching,bleeding of the brain and death.It can cause disruption to migration, feeding habits and breeding. This will have a huge effect on the oceans and all marine life.

You are right about if you destroy the balance in the ocean you destroy life eventually and idiots who say people are more important than whales are just uneducated fools.Having said that at present sonar is an important part of military hardware and cannot be abandoned.I don't know what the answer is to balance the needs of one and the protection of the other.

The Royal Navy has the same problem. We keep a sighting log and try to avoid using sonar in areas where large sea life has been spotted....in peace time. In war, if you're hunting mines or submarines then sorry Flipper, you're going to get hit with sonar!!!

what do you mean AGAIN......hubby was a sonar tech and this is used for many things, all of them IMO far more important then a few whales....not saying they are not important but if I had to come down on one side or another then sorry Hun the whales would lose every EVERY time.
regards and countries safety is far more important

Whales are far more important than the American Navy, there are plenty of Yanks but not many whales left now thanks to the ignorant behaviour of a few people.

LOL, are you serious?! You seriously want to disable our navy so you can make some whale feel better? Let's just put it out of it's misery right now, fetch my harpoon! If the navy needs it to function properly, I am not going to risk the functionality of our navy, thus risking a sailors life, to make whales comfortable. Good grief.
