If you want to save on gas, get the Celica. Plus it is a classic. They stop production on this car on 04.

The mustang is out shadowed by the newer models.

My wife has a 01 Mustang GT Convertible, and we have owned Celicas before, but not of that era.

Two fairly different cars.

V8 Mustang is alot of fun to drive, but depending on your age, the insurance will be fairly steep. And the gas for the V8 will cost you more (although we get about 20 on the highway in ours).

The V8 will be a torque monster, (think stop light acceleration). The celica is more about making horsepower through high RPM's and shifting at the right points.

My personally style of driving, I prefer torque, but that is a personal preference.

You can look up the cars individually to determine what the approriate price to pay is for them (NADA, Edmunds, kbb). But in the long run, the celica will hold its resale value better assuming you don't pay way to much in the first place. And reliability is about average for the Mustang, and above avg for the celica (consumer reports).

When the introduced the newest style mustang, the resale value of the older ones took a big hit, but that may mean you can buy them for a decent price now.

My personal favorite is the Mustang (and what do you know, we own one too), but the celica is a more practical car.

Mileage would be a big factor for me, but I'd go with the Mustang if it has anything close to the Celica. Repairs will be cheaper and you can upgrade ANYTHING that breaks with something better. Test drive both and if the torque and off the line feel of the Mustang doesn't hook you right away get the Celica. I'd also have to see the overall condition of the paint and interior of both.

Who am I kidding I'd get the Mustang anyway that V-8 is addictive.

First -I am a woman and would never drive a six Mustang. What is the point? Second-I have always thought of the mustang as a woman's car period. Goes all the way back to Mary Tyler Moore. (you probably don't even know who she is, tee hee) She drove one on her show a hundred years ago. Hmm -If you are looking for a masculine muscle car you could do better. Of course every person on earth is going to tell you "What do you care what other people think?" I am just giving you my opinion.) H*ll I would rather see you in a truck!! I bet if you took a poll you would find out that there are a lot of women out there that find that to be the absolute in sexy macho. You know, at least in the normal human race price range. Go ahead : ) take a poll...Guy in Mustang or Guy in Big (clean) Truck. (and no! I don't even live in TX) try the coast. Hey...why should you care what other people think...haha All in fun - enjoy whatever you get. - But PLEASE I am serious NO SIX!! at least stop there. Or I will cry for sure.

I would go with the Mustang. There is a lot of power to be coaxed from the 4.6L engine, without getting too expensive. You could easily get 300 HP at the wheel for under $1000 on the Mustang, the Celica is going to cost more to get the same performance level.

Usually I say buy the import because of resale value. In this case, the Mustang GT also has a good following and o.k. resale. Personally, I would check my insurance rates first, they'll be high for both cars. In the end the Celica will be the more reliable of the two and I would recommend it. If you want to hop-up the vehicle, the Mustang will have more performance parts available. Good Luck!!

Mustang hands down. To hell with insurance also, I have had a Mustang since I was 19 (Im 24 now) and I have had a lot of fun in my car so it never bothered me to pay high insurance. I have only seen chicks driving Celicas, and I think they are ugly little cars. I have taken on and beaten even "highly tuned" Celicas numerous times.

I say you should buy the Mustang without another thought...Mustangs are awasome cars with power and style, Celica GT's are for gas savers who want a sporty looking car, but you can't beat an American Mustang that is my opinion

Hope this helps :)

Why would you even ask a stupid question like this. Who would want a celica. You need you @ss kicked for even thinking about an import. Go for muscle and pride get the Mustang or be a puss.

The celica is a "sporty" car. The mustang is a sport car. On top of that there is nothing more fun then handing it to a ricer. Nothing beats displacement.
