The same reason Christians commit any other sin:
They are still in this fallen world with this fallen flesh.

Although, I went from being a non-Christian who use to swear a lot...and was surrounded by friends and family (some non-Christian, some Christians, but mostly professing "Christians") that swore...

But, now I am a Christian...and am surrounded by friends that are true Christians. And honestly...I have NEVER heard most of them ever swear. I still "slip" every once in awhile...but I definitely swear 100 times less than I use to!

But even this...is nothing to brag or boast about...for salvation is by GRACE alone...

In other words...when a person is "saved"...this merely means that they are "Justified"...which means "forgiven of sins and counted righteous (holy/perfect)" in the sight of God.

Yet, even people who ARE "saved"...are still "being saved"...meaning they are being "Sanctified"...which means, "being made holy"....and this by the Holy Spirit...which gives us power over sin...and power over our own tongues. But this is a process that starts at "rebirth"...that is, starts at the moment of "Justification"...when someone first believes...and it continues until they die.

But not until they die are they completely "saved"...that is "Glorification"...in which, sin is forever erradicated. It will be IMPOSSIBLE to sin in heaven...

And, therefore, it will be IMPOSSIBLE to swear in heaven. We will only be worshipping and glorifying God!

Praise that day...may it (may HE) come soon!

Amen.

All people are not perfect. We are all humans and we all screw up.

No Pastor or Preacher or Minister or Priest is perfect. We make the same mistakes and assumptions and bad judgment calls just like everyone else.

We will NEVER be perfect. We are just stumbling around TRYING to do what is right. However, Trying is the KEY WORD there. The trick is to learn and move on. God forgives all our screw ups.

He is just like any other Dad. He helps us get back up, kisses our Boo-boos and puts us back on the bike.

He doesn`t hold things against us. No more than Dad cares about the bike needing repair after you totaled it fourteen times while learning to ride.

The only perfect human was Jesus.

God bless from Texas <><

Depends what you mean by swearing - the only language we consider swearing is taking the Lord's name in vein. All other offesive language isn't really sinning. I think it's rude to use offensive language, but there's no moral code against that.

I am a Christian and that is a very bad habit of mine. I try never to do it around others, but it still is a sin. I do it to blow off steam. I have a stupid, childish hair-trigger temper and I always have. I would really like to not get so upset that I have to say stuff like that. And I'm no kid....I'm in my 50's!! Any prayers coming my way for this problem would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Chuckling about what Rod C. said. I'm in southern California too and man, in my car is when I get most upset!

Your question should read " Why do SOME Christians swear"?

Not all Christians swear. I do not use cuss words in my vocabulary at all. People who cuss in my opinion dont think very highly of themselves or those around them

...no swearing for Christians per the bible, luv...

...in Roman 14 Paul states:

I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

ok...this is to say that meat itself is not bad, but if another Christian sees you eat meat in front of them and is "grieved" (meaning the other Christian sees you doing something that could take them away from their Christian faith) and you know it, then you are liable if you don't stop doing that thing in front of them...

...swear words may not necessarliy be "bad" on their own, but hearing Christians saying them to (or around) other Christians could be bad...

...and if other Christians hear you say certain things, then you may grieve them and cause them to stray from their faith...

...thus we are duty bound to not say them in order to make sure we don't drag other Christians down...

...it a round about way of looking at it, but none the less true

Cause were human.

And there's not a single one of us who's perfect.

We all need to learn to love each other, for who and what the are.

Every one messes up once in a while. A person who does so habitually is probably not a Christian.
