If I bought a car from a personal seller can he have temp tags. I've been told he can't, and the only people that do have them are people with dealer licenses. Can anyone help?

He literally wrote out a temp tag from a draw in his house. Identical to NM temp tags

He issued the temp tag himself. Filled it out right there in front of us.

That personal seller may in fact, have his dealer's license. If you sell more than 5 cars a year in KY you are supposed to get a dealer's license.

To get the correct answer, call your DMV and ask them, they can give you the right answer, since they are the ones handing them out. good luck.

Do you mean he issued you temp tags, or there were temp tags on the car when you bought it?

No, the only way you can get temp tags (Indiana) is when you go to register your car and they will give you temp plates to put on it until your new ones arrive.....sometimes they have them right there.........(usually do)
