practice is the best way to get better just practice the movements on your own, i was on the drill team (armed and unarmed) and i wasn't all that good my first time around but got better with alot of practice on my own time, ended up as a company commander and drill team commander just put alot of effort into it and you shouldn't have any problems, and a pellet gun is a good thing to practice breathing control, sight picture, and trigger squeeze with

Most drill teams use wooden rifles for practice. See if you can get one of those to practice with. A local high school colour guard or Drum Corps may have an old one you can take off their hands for the price of carting it away!!

Also... the best thing you can do is practice, practice, practice... and keep your grades up so your enlistment will go through smoothly...

I was on the JROTC drill team and color guard in high school, but there was no shooting involved.

For the rest -- practice. Constantly. By yourself and with friends. Then practice some more. Get a friend to video you so you can watch and see where you need to improve.

And watch this video for inspiration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KGIf8a21bw (best drillers ever)

Drilling well is a result of practice, practice etc etc.

One of my daughters did Color Guard with her High School Band. She did flags other kids did sabers and/or rifles (wood). They won a lot of the contests because they had good teachers and they practiced, practiced, etc etc.
