I spent just under 10K, soup to nuts. I applaud you for wanting to be conservative with your money. It is good whenyou dont start your marraige off with a mount of wedding debt.
To save money look into cutting back on alot of flowers, a few beautiful choices will go a long way to making your day special without going crazy with the budget, also, for a wedding dress look at Target.com (no, I am not crazy) They sell designer wedding dresses now. Michaels has do it yourself wedding invitations, you make them on your own computer and printer, and then using a good font they can come out very beautiful. Look into a friday wedding or off seaon. good luck.

It is about $12, 500...there were some things I splurged on simply because They looked absolutely beautiful and others I skimped on bc it wasn't as important. The Country club were the reception is at is close to half that budget. U can obviously spend much less than me....as little as 3000 total or go as elegant as u like. My honeymoon is about $10,000...Hawaii (13 days) with personal and private beaches and homes...no hotels just tropical seclusion...again u pick whats best for u and what u want and can afford...ur's can be more elegant or much more cost friendly. Good Luck. ***Also go to Borders and pick up wedding planning books, there are some that are geared towards the bride on a budget $5000 or less...even if ur's is a bigger budget, there are many tips in there that can help u.

Weddings can be expensive. My parents offered to give us thousands of dollars, or a down-payment on a house, and instead I asked for a wedidng. BIG MISTAKE, not that it wasn't gorgeous and I loved it, but now I wish I would have taken the money and ran. You can do a wedding cheaper than you would expect though. Unless you have a garden of flowers and a florist in the family, I would say go with fake flowers. They're cheaper and you don't have to worry about them wilting. You'll have enough stress, trust me. Shop around for cakes and see who has the best deal. I bought mine from Wal-Mart, it was gorgeous. For my reception, I had a luau, because we were moving to Hawaii. It was tons of fun and people are still talking about it.

At first we were expecting $5,000. But, now it is at $12,000 and working it self up higher as we speak. Weddings do not have to be that expensive. Our parents decided to pay other people to do more work so they can enjoy the wedding process and the ceremony too. We opted for a nicer photographer because pictures will last a lifetime and a good dinner.
♥ Goodluck and congrats on your wedding next year!

Holy crap, my wedding cost $35,000 and I still did a lot of DIY. I think a lot of it depends on where you live. I'm from Southern California and I don't know anyone who spent less than $15K. The biggest cost is the food, so if you can find a good caterer with great prices you'll be pretty good to go. Buying your own alcohol can save money too, rather than having your caterer or venue supply it, because you can shop around for deals. And keep the flowers simple. Good luck!

We spent about $3000 - and my attire was almost a 1/3 of that. IT wasn't that we couldn't afford to spend more, we chose to have a very simple wedding (we threw a surprise wedding at our engagement party) so that we could spend the rest of our budget on a house.

i don't know the particulars on where u live. but, i live in south louisiana and mine has worked its way up to about 11,000 and we had a budget of abt. 10,000 so thats not too bad. But for this area and cost that is a really nice wedding. Ballroom, ostrich arrangements, self catered( family with chefs in it) , fresh flowers, etc. Try to organize your time and try to do as much as u can yourself. People in the wedding biz will try to discourage u from doing that , but they just want to capitalize on the best day in your life. believe me u will save thousands. Ordered a lot online , need any list of places email me mizpreston23@yahoo.com

My husband and I had all of 15 or 20 people, we cooked, we made the cake, ties and skirts were not allowed, it was the furthest thing from a formal affair you could get. I think we spent a grand total (including my dress) of alil under $1000. But then, like I said, it was small and we were trying not to make it the big formal affair. It was really nice. I loved it.

Krista go ahead and start planning. A well planned wedding will run you into the thousands when you consider food and dresses, suit rentals, where are you keeping the reception (that is another rental) it is alot to think about alot to plan. You can do shortcuts but ofcourse your going to need alot of hookups.

5k...after all told we ended up spending 6k. 100 guests, full open bar, north Ohio.
Be honest with your parents if they are helping out. Setting the budget is the first thing you should do.
(The National average for a wedding is 30k but I wouldn't ever spend that much even if I did have it)
