You hear stories of people who prayed during the tsunami for God to save them.

Don't you figure if God wanted to save you, he wouldn't hit you with a tsunami?

It's scary to wonder what these people think of those who didn't make it. I guess those people didn't pray well enough, eh?

Why don't you get off your high horse & get real.
God didn't cause anyone to die or the tsunami.
There are natural laws to the universe. Weather is one of them. You have a baby, you watch it grow & then, well the kid becomes an adult & makes decisions. Some good, some not so good. So then based on your logic one could say the parent caused the offspring to destroy itself if bad choices are made. NO.......the choice lies within the person. The world created was set in motion & God isn't pulling the strings. As for the people who prayed, well maybe they got some solice out of their last moments. Events like that do have a meaningful purpose. They unite us as humans. We can then appreciate our lives. We then help our fellow less fortunate brothers.
Everything happens for a reason. And those that died, only lost this human body. Their spirit, soul or essence is still alive. And quite frankly I think they are in a better place, time space continuum.

Do you think everything that seems bad is because of God?
There are natural disasters that occur b/c of what we humans are doing to this planet. We can decide to live differently if we choose.

One is given Wisdom through prayer.........
Wisdom tells man to listen and watch the animals.....
If one listens and watches the animals in the time of a tsunami, a person would be told to head for high ground.
Since the animals are finely tuned to nature they know before hand that something dangerous is coming.

Therefore.......Prayer - Wisdom - understanding - life goes on as normal............

There was a large tsunami, just a few years ago and all the animals survived.........

Prayer is sometimes misunderstood by man!

Never hurts to say a prayer. How do we know God had sent the tsunami to harm everyone in the area of it? We don't!

Uneducated, ignorant people around the world turn to "God" in prayer when they don't understand something, and eschew a scientific or rational explanation for daily acts of nature. The conveniently refer to this as "faith".

The good news is that you asked a great question, and obviously already are on your way to understanding this sad phenomenon at a young age!

If there really was a "benevolent God", certainly he/she/it wouldn't be taking the lives of children, causing horrific floods, hurricanes, Hiv/Aids, and tsunami's left and right. Take Hurricane Katrina for example. Remember all the TV interviews right after the storm of people who were directly affected? Quite a few of them said it was "God's will" or "God will provide for us", etc, etc. An amazing lack of logic prevailed amidst such obvious tragedy and devastation all around.

Well if "God" is supposed to be so benevolent, why did he/she/it let such a horrific act happen in the first place? For fun? To teach us a "lesson"?? To show his/her/its power to us mere mortals?

Nature creates tsunami's, hurricanes, earthquakes, and a myriad of other problems that can easily be explained by modern scientific method. Yes its sad, devistating, and horrible sometimes, but yet is counteracted by the beauty of a sunrise, bright color of a flower, or the majesty of a mountain range.

However, there will always be large, uneducated groups of the great "unwashed" who continue to believe the BS fed to them by their religious elders, tying these "unexplained actions" of the word and actions of God, the Devil, Allah, etc.

In fact, this is one of the major tennant's of the far-right wing of the current Republican party. Now THAT'S a truly scary thought!

It's so sad that in the year 2007 we must rely on such bullshit.
