Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a vehicle, the title is under my name and it is registered to my name.

Is it permissible for my father to insure my vehicle under his policy, even if he doesn't own it?

I wasn't trying to defraud anyone. It's simply that, we wanted the car to be under my name. But we get a better deal under his policy.

So it seems like adding him to the registration such as:

John Doe OR Jane Doe

Will suffice.

Hum,

I've started to think that it's better not to base decisions off of people who don't know what they are talking about....

I spoke to both MVD and my Agent, and this is possible, so as long as both names are stated.

Woo.

Wont happen. It can only be insured under his name if he owns it.... Otherwise I could insure my neighbor's car because I know he's an old guy that has lots of wrecks and just wait for him to crash so I can collect.

it is illiegal to do that. Thats like lying to the insurance company. If it costs $100 months to insure you, thats how much it costs, theyre not trying to rip you off, They work for the governemnt and they know whats best for you.

I don't think that the insurance companies allow that. It won't hurt to try but don't count on it.

he would have to tell the insurance company the car is his second car and name you as driver.
